Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Hatsu Matsu and John Gites. Matsu comes to the cage accompanied by LMFAO - Sexy and I Know It. Gites comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Eminem - Above The Law kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 4 losses; Hatsu Matsu! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 7 losses; John Gites! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Matsu defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gites. Gites closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Matsu has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Gites is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Matsu knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Gites is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. You can see the frustration on Matsu's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gites is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Matsu has escaped the position, nice work there. Matsu is looking to regain half guard here but Gites keeps moving and retains side control.

The referee asks Gites politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Gites prefers to stall for the moment though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gites wants to control but Matsu is keeping him busy. Gites goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Matsu has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Gites but great work by Matsu. Gites controlling from the full mount. Let's hope that Gites has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Matsu has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Gites is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Matsu is defending well though. Gites let's go of the attempt for now. Gites looking to break Matsu's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Matsu remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Gites will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Matsu fending off the submission attempt from Gites. Gites is persistently looking for the submission but Matsu is defending it well.
You can see the frustration on Matsu's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Maybe a few strikes would soften Matsu for a finish. Matsu trying to control but not successfully. Gites has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Matsu has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
