Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Carlos French (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carlos French! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Jones! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! French lands with a thumping leg kick.
Jones looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! French is looking to clinch. Jones shoots and misses and French counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by French. French lands a left hand that snaps the head of Jones backwards. French wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Jones has him pressed against the cage. French wants to break free but Jones has control.
French is trying to break free. French has had enough of the clinch but Jones keeps him there for the moment. Jones tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Jones has French pressed against the cage, preventing French from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Jones fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. French is trying to break the clinch but Jones has him pressed against the cage. Carlos French has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Jones. French wants to break the clinch but can't.
Jones is looking for a takedown up against the cage. French gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. French breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Jones looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Jones shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. French has closed the distance and engaged Jones in a clinch.
French wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Jones lands a right hand that snaps the head of French backwards. French pulls guard effortlessly.
That's two minutes gone in the round. French wants to sweep here but Jones controlling him for the moment. Jones throws a big elbow that misses. French knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground. French keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Jones has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jones slips nicely into half guard. French slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Jones postures up in French's guard and throws a big left but French blocks it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Jones decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on French, up you get! French fails in his attempt to clinch. Horrible takedown attempt by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by French, which made it look bad. Nice sprawl there from Jones as French shoots in. Jones throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones shoots in but French avoids the takedown attempt easily. French thinks about countering with a head kick. French misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Jones shoots in for a double leg but French sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! French looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. And Jones tries to counter it with a takedown but French pushes his down on his head and steps out. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carlos French dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
French misses with a hook. French throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Jones closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. French kicks off Jones and gets to his feet. French rushes Jones and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. French is defending well against a takedown attempt. French breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A head kick from French lands but Jones takes it in his stride. Jones is breathing heavily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jones clinches up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones keeps the fight in the clinch, despite French's efforts to push away. Jones has dropped down and is working for a takedown. French is trying to keep an underhook but Jones manages to get the takedown into half guard. Jones is looking to advance position but French won't allow it. French is looking to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. French tries to roll over but Jones keeps him under control. Jones missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. French is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jones can do to turn this around? Jones thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Jones sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. French defending well though. Jones not doing much here.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Horrible takedown attempt by French or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones, which made it look bad.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but French circles away. French looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. French scores with a jab. Jones moves into range and clinches up with French. French wants to break the clinch but can't.

Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but French sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. French moves into the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones dives in for a single leg takedown but French sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. French doesn't manage to clinch there - Jones circles away.

Jones looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jones looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jones! Jones throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and French works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones wants to take a breather but French is having none of it. French might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Jones is looking to stall here but French recovers full guard. Jones stands and throws French's legs to the side, diving into side control. French is looking for a sweep.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jones tries to score with some ground and pound. French controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Jones tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jones has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Jones tries to score with some ground and pound. French is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. French has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jones is on top in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. French utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. French looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there. Jones sitting in guard here, content to control. French has momentary wrist control but Jones slips an elbow through the middle. Nick Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Carlos French is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Jones has gone for a leg lock! French slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jones's guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Carlos French showed his dominance in that final round. Well French has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
