Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Manny Puno and Blue Cup. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 0 losses; Manny Puno! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 0 losses; Blue Cup!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Chad Campbell and Jorge Garcia.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Cup fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Puno closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Puno lands in his opponent's guard.

Cup is trying to control the position but Puno postures up.
Puno wants to pass the guard but Cup is keeping the position.
Puno has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Puno controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cup pulls Puno in close to his closed guard and prevents Puno from doing any damage or advancing position.

Puno is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Puno seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cup for as long as he can get away with.

Puno takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Cup wants to control but Puno is having none of it.

Cup is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Puno continues to stall.
Cup just trying to survive but Puno is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Puno has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Cup's body.
More hug and hope from Puno.

Puno is not going to allow Cup to sit and survive in this position.
Puno is riding his opponent, not letting Cup buck him off.

Puno gets his hands free as Cup looks to control.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Puno.
Cup tries to roll but Puno sticks to his back.
Puno controlling the position well here. Cup rolled but Puno kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

Cup manages to reverse the position and now he's in Puno's guard. Nice work there by Cup.

Cup is fighting to break Puno's control of his arms but Puno is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Puno is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Canadian Elite Bruins Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Cup wants to pass to mount but Puno is defending the position.
Puno wants to control but Cup is keeping busy.
Puno tries to get to full guard but Cup has control of the leg.

Puno is pressing down on Cup's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Cup seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
