Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between James Geens and Rafael Carvalho. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 0 losses; James Geens! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 0 losses; Rafael Carvalho! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Bruno Lombardi and David Schapiro.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Geens clinches with his opponent.
Geens could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Geens has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Carvalho regains guard immediately. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Geens (2) vs (0) Carvalho Carvalho keeping moving, preventing Geens from controlling successfully. Geens pushing down on Carvalho's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Geens looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Geens has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Carvalho is trying to control Geens's posture but Geens avoids it.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Geens tries for a kimura but Carvalho is defending well. Carvalho can't do much from the bottom here. Geens wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Carvalho, who protects the arm well. A lull in the action here. Carvalho holds on to Geens's head and controls the position momentarily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carvalho being controlled for a moment. Carvalho is trying to control Geens's posture but Geens avoids it. Geens is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Carvalho is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Carvalho tries to bench press Geens off him but Geens keeps the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carvalho keeps trying to improve his position. Carvalho struggling a bit here. Geens is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Carvalho will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Carvalho tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Geens wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Carvalho struggling a bit here. Geens swings around for an armbar but Carvalho sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Geens's guard. Geens trying to control the position from guard on top but Carvalho is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Carvalho is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Geens is aware though and is defending well. Carvalho is looking for a triangle but Geens pushes his legs off easily.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Geens stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Carvalho swivels though and keeps the full guard. Geens controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Carvalho wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Geens is now in half guard. Geens is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Carvalho defends it well.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Carvalho makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Carvalho. Carvalho pushes a forearm under Geens's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Geens is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
