PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Irvin Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Sullivan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Irvin Ross!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Robert Sullivan!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Paul Tew and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sullivan uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ross.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Sullivan has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Ross blocks a head kick by Sullivan.
We've been hearing reports that Ross has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Sullivan moves into the clinch.
Sullivan lands an elbow that stopped Ross in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Irvin Ross has been cut.
Sullivan throws a knee to the head but misses.

Ross ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sullivan moves away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Ross pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sullivan throws a body shot but no joy.
Sullivan throws a series of punches but Ross avoids them all with ease.
Ross is looking to counter with head kicks.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Sullivan. Ross shrugs it off though.

Sullivan moves into the clinch successfully.
Sullivan putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Ross in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Ross is breathing heavily.
Stalling in the clinch from Sullivan.
Sullivan lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Ross.

Sullivan has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Ross is trying to keep an underhook but Sullivan manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Sullivan thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Sullivan escapes and gets back to his feet.

Sullivan closes the distance and clinches.

Sullivan lands a takedown into guard.

Sullivan stands up and waves to Ross to follow him.
Ross really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sullivan clinches with his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ross breaks the clinch.
Sullivan tries a head kick but it misses.
Ross is looking to counter punch.
Sullivan throws a head kick that misses.
Ross throws a counter high kick but Sullivan was just alert enough to avoid it.
Ross misses with a wild combination.
Robert Sullivan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sullivan shoots and misses
and Ross counters with a right hand to the body.
Irvin Ross has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Sullivan.

Sullivan has Ross up against the cage in a clinch.

Sullivan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Sullivan closes the distance and pushes Ross back into the cage.

Ross breaks from the clinch.

Sullivan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ross looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Sullivan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Sullivan creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Ross sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Ross is trying to get back to his feet.

Sullivan content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Sullivan decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Ross will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ross throws a big shot that misses.
Sullivan misses with a head kick.
Sullivan fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Nice defenses there by Sullivan.
Ross lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Sullivan connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Ross to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Sullivan!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Robert Sullivan!
A very excited looking Robert Sullivan made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
