Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cock Chestnar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rufus Johnson! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chestnar misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Chestnar jabbing away but nothing is landing. Good exchange - Johnson coming out on top. Johnson ducks right into an uppercut from Chestnar. Chestnar changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to avoid it but Chestnar manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johnson to the ground. Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Johnson connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
It looks like Cock Chestnar has been cut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Johnson ducks under a wild hook from Chestnar. Johnson dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Johnson misses with a takedown and Chestnar counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Chestnar looks to land a left hand but Johnson moved out of range nicely. Chestnar throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Johnson fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Chestnar is breathing heavily. A slapping leg kick lands for Johnson.
Johnson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Rufus Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Chestnar looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Johnson lands with a shot to the body. Johnson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Chestnar takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Johnson throws a series of punches but Chestnar avoids them all with ease. Johnson lands with a shot to the body. Johnson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Johnson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Johnson throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Johnson fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Chestnar to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Chestnar looks to clinch but Johnson throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Chestnar taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Rufus Johnson!
