Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Thomas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Keisuke Takasugi! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thomas tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Takasugi defends well and Thomas ends up having to push Takasugi into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Thomas darts in looking for a takedown but Takasugi gets double underhooks and turns Thomas into the cage. Takasugi is looking for the big counter here. Thomas with a poor takedown and Takasugi counters with a straight punch to the midsection. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sam Thomas. That's going to take a lot out of him. Thomas with a poor takedown and Takasugi counters with a big uppercut that knocks Thomas off his feet! Takasugi dives into side control looking to finish!
Thomas is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Takasugi has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Oh Thomas is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Takasugi with a dominant takedown and that's winded Thomas. Thomas is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Takasugi dives into side control.
My spies in Red House inform me that Takasugi has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Thomas gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Takasugi controlling from mount. Thomas seems to have got his legs back now. Takasugi landing punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Takasugi controlling the pace for now. Thomas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Takasugi on the ground. Takasugi scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Thomas?

He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Thomas turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Takasugi off and cradles Thomas's limp body as Takasugi celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Keisuke Takasugi! As Keisuke Takasugi got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: Suzuki yahama jiu-jitsu kikoman sushi, toyota samsung sony bukkake! Sushami, hiroshima nagasaki!'.
