And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paul misses with a takedown
letting Petrov counter with a right hand.
Petrov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

It seemed like Petrov was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Paul dives in and grabs Petrov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Petrov pushes down on Paul's head and hops out.

Paul changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Petrov tries to avoid it but Paul manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Petrov to the ground. Petrov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Petrov connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Petrov throws a hook but Paul avoids it easily.
Paul throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Petrov was covering up waiting for the punch and Paul finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Paul is trying to get an arm triangle but Petrov is defending well.
Paul thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Paul is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Petrov is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Petrov can do anything to dispel that myth.

That was a close round but I would say that Bradley Paul will probably get the nod.

Petrov stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Petrov wants it to stay on the feet.
Petrov is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Paul with a body shot.
Paul shoots in for a double leg but Petrov sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Petrov displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Paul.

Petrov let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Paul darts in looking for a takedown but Petrov gets double underhooks and turns Paul into the cage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Petrov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Paul. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Paul works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Bradley Paul overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Paul stands and throws Petrov's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Paul has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Petrov is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Paul yanks on the arm and Petrov is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Paul.
