Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luiz Araujo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thaddeus Proctor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Araujo's entrance music is Who Shot Ya?. A fine choice. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luiz Araujo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thaddeus Proctor! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Proctor looks to land a right hand but Araujo moved out of range. Araujo is looking to counter the offense by Proctor and move into the clinch. The fight stays on the outside here - Araujo looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Araujo takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Araujo tries to clinch but Proctor is having none of it. A slow jab from Proctor misses its intended target. Proctor checks a leg kick nicely. Proctor throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Proctor gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Araujo to score an easy takedown into full guard. Proctor seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Proctor is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Araujo is controlling him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Araujo lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Proctor pulls Araujo in close to his closed guard and prevents Araujo from doing any damage or advancing position. Proctor is looking to stand up but Araujo isn't so interested in that idea. Araujo trying to control but Proctor is working from the bottom. Araujo definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Proctor working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Araujo. Araujo wants to control from the top but Proctor keeps moving. Araujo looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Araujo trying to control but Proctor is working from the bottom. Proctor is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Araujo with a flurry of punches that miss.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Proctor has Araujo pulled in close to control his posture. Araujo trying to control but Proctor is working from the bottom.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Proctor misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Araujo dodges the punch combination from Proctor.
Araujo fails in his attempt to clinch. It seemed like Proctor was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Araujo doesn't manage to clinch there - Proctor circles away.
Araujo blocks a jab. Araujo looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Araujo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Proctor looks like he's trying to stand up.
Araujo trying to control from half guard but Proctor is working away. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Proctor is trying is best to control the position here. Proctor on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Araujo stops Proctor from getting back to his feet.
Araujo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Proctor's head. Araujo wants to take a breather but Proctor is having none of it. Araujo seems to be working for a kimura but Proctor defends the submission attempt. Proctor is looking to improve his position.
Proctor pushes Araujo off looking to stand but Araujo dives back in and keeps control.
Araujo is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Proctor trying to hold on to Araujo's head to control him but Araujo postures up.
Proctor won't allow Araujo to pass to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Araujo stops Proctor from getting back to his feet.
Proctor keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Proctor is trying to control Araujo's posture. Araujo takes advantage of the lull and advances to side control. He also appears to have an arm triangle here! Uh oh, big trouble for Proctor! Araujo is rotating here... this could be the end... Proctor is out! Araujo has ended this one emphatically! Great submission!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Luiz Araujo! In his post fight interview, Luiz Araujo started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
