The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guschin is looking to clinch but Jones is avoiding it.

Guschin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jones moves away.
Jones takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

and Jones counters with a low kick, right behind Guschin 's knee.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Guschin shoots in looking for a takedown but Jones manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Guschin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Guschin tries to clinch there but Jones circles away.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Jones dodges the ground and pound from Guschin.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones is trying to get back to his feet.
Jones tries to bench press Guschin off him but Guschin keeps the position.
Jones takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Jones pushes Guschin away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Guschin gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Guschin throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Guschin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Guschin misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Jones is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Guschin creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Jones sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
