Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jerome Vance (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Cote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patrick Cote acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jerome Vance! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Patrick Cote! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vance tries to sprawl but Cote drives through with a takedown into half guard. Vance landing strikes from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vance slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Vance throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Vance is looking to stand up but Cote isn't so interested in that idea. Cote wants to control from the top but Vance keeps moving. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cote working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Vance lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Vance postures up in Cote's guard and throws a big left but Cote blocks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vance is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Vance drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cote looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cote looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cote! Cote lands a nice forearm strike. Cote is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Vance is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Vance really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Cote has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Vance!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cote working for a submission but Vance is keeping him at bay. The referee warns Vance that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Vance sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Vance pushes Cote off and gets back to his feet. Vance stuffs the takedown. Cote tries to keep at a distance but Vance has taken the fight into the clinch. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cote is looking to break free of the clinch but Vance has double underhooks. Cote tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Vance just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vance dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Cote tries to stall but Vance uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Vance tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Cote avoids it. Cote is trying to drag Vance to the mat but Vance just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Jerome Vance has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Cote. Vance tries to throw a body punch but Cote avoids it by throwing Vance back against the cage. Vance has Cote pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Cote manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Cote tries to pull guard but Vance forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Cote wants to break the clinch but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Cote wants to break the clinch but can't.
Vance tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cote just stands there and leans against the cage. Cote tries to pull guard but Vance forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Vance is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Cote is defending well for now. Cote drops down looking for an ankle pick but Vance pulls his leg out and moves away.
Cote looks winded! Cote clinches with his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Vance has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Cote after a bit of a struggle. Cote jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Vance walks away with a smile on his face. Cote gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Cote gets a clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jerome Vance will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Vance enables Cote to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Vance manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Vance manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Vance gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Cote.

Vance tries to land a sweep but no joy. Vance is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round. Cote trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Vance will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Vance will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Cote trying to control the position from guard on top but Vance is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cote prevents Vance from getting back to his feet. Vance is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Cote shoots for a double leg takedown but Vance sprawls well. He's pushed Cote's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Jerome Vance has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Cote. Cote is breathing heavily. Vance fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Cote to the ground. Vance is now in Cote's guard. Vance works over Cote with some ground and pound from guard. Vance makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Cote bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Vance's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vance manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Cote shoots in for a double leg but Vance sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Vance closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cote circles away. Cote gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Vance postures up and lands a big shot to Cote's brow. Vance landing some decent shots from guard. Vance is in close to Cote's body, working some short punches and elbows. Vance scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vance is working Cote over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Cote not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Jerome Vance dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Cote swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Vance counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Vance is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cote can do to turn this around? Vance drops back looking for a leg! Cote is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cote manages to kick Vance off! Vance jumps back into Cote's guard. Vance stands up over Cote, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Vance lands a couple of elbows. Vance throws a big right hand that misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cote is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Cote wants to sweep but no luck.

It's a sloppy attempt though and Vance jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Cote will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Vance goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Cote rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Vance's guard! Nice work there by Cote! Vance manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cote manages to get himself to full guard.

Vance is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Cote is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Cote has escaped and now he's on top!

Vance pushes Cote off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Cote looks for a takedown but Vance sprawls well. Cote throws a lazy head kick and Vance counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Cote pressing his opponent against the cage.

Cote would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Vance throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Cote looking to sit in guard and control but Vance gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Patrick Cote has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jerome Vance is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Cote has an active guard here but Vance has managed to pass into half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Jerome Vance showed his dominance in that final round. Well Vance has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
