9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Emre Hussain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jan Kriel! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice shot lands for Kriel. Kriel getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Hussain misses with a wild body shot. Good work by Kriel as he checks the leg kick. A clash of legs there as Kriel blocks the low kick. Kriel has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Hussain. Hussain thows a left - swing and a miss! Hussain ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Kriel staying out of range there. A clash of legs there as Kriel blocks the low kick. It seemed like Kriel was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Kriel slips under a jab from Hussain. Kriel is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Hussain throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hussain takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Kriel dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Kriel lands with a nice combination. Hussain backs away looking to recover. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kriel throws an overhand right that lands on Hussain's shoulder, as Hussain tries to avoid the shot. A little feinted left hand from Hussain on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Kriel checks a low kick from Hussain. Hussain fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kriel. Hussain will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Kriel lands with a hook. Hussain tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Kriel lands with a shot to the body. Hussain missing with a left hand there. Kriel was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Kriel pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Hussain tries a low kick but Kriel avoids it. Kriel blocks a low kick nicely. Kriel misses with a body kick. Hussain throws a jab when Kriel was well out of range. Kriel lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hussain circles away quickly and effectively. Kriel keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hussain. Kriel ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hussain moves away. Hussain swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Hussain moves away from the strike by Kriel. Hussain closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kriel did well to prevent Hussain getting side control. Hussain has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Kriel is holding on to half guard well. Kriel is looking to control Hussain's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kriel avoid being mounted? Hussain not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Hussain takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Jan Kriel seems to be getting the better of the standup. Hussain swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Kriel connects with a body shot. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Hussain jabbing away but nothing is landing. Kriel swings for the body but Hussain moves out of range.

Kriel's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Hussain lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Hussain dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kriel. That did some damage! Kriel throws a nice head kick!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A slow jab from Hussain misses its intended target. Kriel swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Kriel is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Hussain looking to sit in guard and control but Kriel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Kriel wants to control from the top but Hussain keeps moving. Emre Hussain overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Kriel not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Hussain wants to sweep here but Kriel controlling him for the moment. Hussain keeping moving, preventing Kriel from controlling successfully. Hussain is trying to control the position but Kriel postures up. Hussain is really struggling to control Kriel but he's trying to hold on to the position. Hussain tries to land a sweep but no joy. That was a close second round but I would say that Emre Hussain will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!

A low kick from Hussain lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kriel has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kriel and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. A nice side step and Kriel releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Hussain throws a low kick but Kriel moves out of range easily. Hussain throws a hook but Kriel blocks it. Kriel is looking to chop away at Hussain's legs. A jab from Kriel finds it's way through Hussain's defenses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kriel ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hussain moves away. Kriel throws the left hand but Hussain avoids the punch easily. Hussain is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kriel. Kriel tries a head kick but it misses.

Kriel is pulling down on Hussain's head. It's preventing any offense from Hussain, at least for the moment.

Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kriel throws out a powerful jab. Hussain shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kriel's guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hussain looking to sit in guard and control but Kriel gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Hussain thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Emre Hussain. I think Kriel has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
