Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Piet Kriel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guillermo Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Piet Kriel could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Guillermo Mendez's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Piet Kriel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Guillermo Mendez! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kriel defends it nicely. Mendez shoots in and gets a takedown into Kriel's guard. Kriel pulls Mendez in close to prevent any damage. Kriel might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Mendez won't allow Kriel to sweep him here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mendez connects with a couple of short punches. Mendez drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kriel dives on top into guard. Kriel trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kriel is working hard here to advance position. Mendez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kriel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kriel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Mendez throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Mendez working a defensive guard here.
Kriel trying to control the position from guard on top but Mendez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kriel trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Mendez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Mendez wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Kriel trying to control the position from guard on top but Mendez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mendez working for a triangle but Kriel defends it easily.
Kriel trying to control but Mendez is working from the bottom. Mendez working for submissions but it's allowed Kriel to get to half guard.
Mendez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kriel is working away from the top position though. Kriel slows the pace down in half guard. Mendez has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendez actively working from the bottom here. Kriel is keen to just control but Mendez is a slippery customer. Mendez tries to get to full guard but Kriel has control of the leg. Kriel thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mendez's head. Kriel is trying to control the action in half guard but Mendez is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Kriel looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mendez is trying to maintain the position but Kriel is very close to passing his half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Mendez striking from the bottom. Mendez gets back to full guard.
Kriel trying to control but Mendez is working from the bottom. Mendez looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Kriel passes into side control.
Kriel landing a few strikes. Mendez wants to control but Kriel postures up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Kriel trying to control the action but Mendez is working from the bottom. Mendez can't do much from the bottom here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Piet Kriel dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Mendez shoots and misses and Kriel counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Mendez thinking. Mendez doesn't succeed with the takedown and Kriel counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Mendez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Piet Kriel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Guillermo Mendez. Kriel rushes Mendez and presses him up against the cage. Mendez goes for a takedown attempt but Kriel pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Mendez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kriel as he jumps to the side. Piet Kriel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice takedown defense from Mendez. No joy for Kriel on that attempt. As Kriel backs off Mendez throws a huge counter combo but Kriel manages to avoid it all. Kriel looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Kriel shoots in but no luck this time. Kriel throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mendez was covering up waiting for the punch and Kriel finishes the takedown easily into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendez has his feet on Kriel's thighs here. He's pushed Kriel off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Kriel screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Guillermo Mendez! A determined Guillermo Mendez didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
