Kriel comes to the cage accompanied by Fokofpolisiekar - Fokofpolisiekar. Shane Wellman Iv has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jan Kriel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Wellman Iv!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wellman Iv connects with the punch.
Wellman Iv connects with a nice looking jab.
Wellman Iv misses with a straight left.
Kriel moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Wellman Iv misses with a left hand
and Kriel counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Wellman Iv throws a lazy uppercut
and Kriel counters with a right hand to the body.
Wellman Iv swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Kriel.
Wellman Iv's coach down at Wreckshop was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Wellman Iv's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Wellman Iv scores with a decent looking hook.
Kriel moves away from the strike by Wellman Iv.

Wellman Iv closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kriel did well to prevent Wellman Iv getting side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Wellman Iv perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Wellman Iv wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kriel keeps working.
Kriel is trying to control but can't.

Still in half guard, Wellman Iv seems content to control.
Kriel wants to improve his position but Wellman Iv is controlling well.

Wellman Iv is working for a kimura but Kriel is defending it quite comfortably.
Kriel avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Wellman Iv.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Wellman Iv has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Wellman Iv controlling from the full mount.
Wellman Iv wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Wellman Iv landing strikes from the mount and Kriel is in trouble!
Kriel is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Kriel is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Wellman Iv is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Wellman Iv tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Kriel avoids a series of strikes thrown by Wellman Iv.

Wellman Iv tries to control but Kriel wriggling away.
Kriel is desperately trying to improve his position but Wellman Iv has a good base and remains in mount.
Wellman Iv misses with a head shot.
Wellman Iv controlling from mount.
Wellman Iv lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Kriel hang on?
Wellman Iv looking to control but Kriel is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kriel wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Wellman Iv.

Kriel is squirming around, avoiding Wellman Iv's attempts to control the action.
Wellman Iv looking to ground and pound but Kriel is blocking nicely.
Wellman Iv looking to control and managing it successfully.

Wellman Iv jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Kriel is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Kriel and Wellman Iv has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wellman Iv trying to control the position but Kriel is working away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shane Wellman Iv dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kriel checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Kriel looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Wellman Iv throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Kriel on the side of the head.
Wellman Iv throws a leg kick
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Wellman Iv misses with a body shot.
Wellman Iv throws a poor cross that misses
enabling Kriel to counter with a crisp jab.
Kriel moves forwards but Wellman Iv connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Wellman Iv stuns Kriel with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Wellman Iv.
Kriel was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wellman Iv gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Wellman Iv takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Wellman Iv uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kriel.
Wellman Iv throws out a counter right but Kriel avoids it with no problem.
Wellman Iv keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kriel.
We've been told by Kriel's head coaches at Black City that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Wellman Iv misses with a lunging right hand
and Kriel counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Wellman Iv misses with a hook to the body
and Kriel counters with a stiff right hand.
Kriel takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Kriel takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Wellman Iv with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Wellman Iv tries to clinch
and Kriel counters with a left and a right that stings Wellman Iv.
Wellman Iv wants to clinch but Kriel slips to the side
and Kriel counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


Wellman Iv is rocked!
Wellman Iv looks to clinch
and Kriel scores with a counter punch that sends Wellman Iv to the canvas! Kriel smells blood - he's punishing Wellman Iv with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Wellman Iv has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jan Kriel!
Jan Kriel decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
