Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sigurd Ragnarsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ove Sundberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ragnarsson comes to the cage accompanied by The Animal. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Sigurd Ragnarsson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ove Sundberg! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Jonathan Paton and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Donk. Ragnarsson catches Sundberg right on the button with a cross. Sundberg looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Ragnarsson is looking to control Sundberg's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ragnarsson avoid being mounted? Ragnarsson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Sundberg stalling away here and it's allowed Ragnarsson to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Sundberg wants to control from the top but Ragnarsson keeps moving. Sundberg postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sundberg controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Sundberg trying to control the position from guard on top but Ragnarsson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sundberg landing with the ground and pound. Sundberg throwing strikes from guard but Ragnarsson blocks nicely. Ragnarsson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sundberg makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Ragnarsson keeping moving, preventing Sundberg from controlling successfully. Ragnarsson trying to keep a closed guard but Sundberg is proving a slippery customer.
Ragnarsson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sundberg is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Sundberg with a nice head shot there. My spies in Savage Empire inform me that Sundberg has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Sundberg throwing strikes but missing. Ragnarsson has an active guard here but Sundberg has managed to pass into half guard.
Sundberg is trying to control the action in half guard but Ragnarsson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Ragnarsson wants to get back to full guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Sundberg with the ground and pound but Ragnarsson uses the opportunity to regain guard. Ragnarsson looking for subs off his back but Sundberg has passed one foot through into half guard.

Sundberg throws a big right hand that misses. Sundberg throws a strike but Ragnarsson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Sundberg tries to land a sweep but no joy. Ragnarsson's corner is telling him to maintain position. Ragnarsson tries to free his leg and advance position but Sundberg is retaining full guard. Sundberg is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ragnarsson controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Sundberg is pulling down on Ragnarsson's head. It's preventing any offense from Ragnarsson, at least for the moment. Sundberg lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Sundberg trying to control the position from guard on top but Ragnarsson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sundberg makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Ragnarsson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ragnarsson regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Sundberg. Ragnarsson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Ragnarsson working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Sundberg has passed into half guard!

Sundberg throws a body punch but Ragnarsson moves out of range. Sundberg slips under a jab from Ragnarsson. Sundberg looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Sundberg lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ragnarsson circles away quickly and effectively. Ove Sundberg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sundberg scores with a jab to the jaw. Sundberg just misses with a punch to the body.
Sundberg throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Sundberg fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Sundberg walks into a jab. Sundberg swinging wildly here.
Ragnarsson avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Ragnarsson tries to counter with a takedown but Sundberg is quick to defend against it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sundberg scores with a jab to the head.
Sundberg lands a lovely overhand right. Ragnarsson ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Sundberg jabs Ragnarsson to the body, keeping him at a distance. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ragnarsson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sundberg sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sundberg digs a good body shot into Ragnarsson's ribs. Sundberg throws a leg kick but Ragnarsson checks it. Sundberg comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Sundberg scores with a crisp jab that stopped Ragnarsson in his tracks. Sundberg fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Sundberg misses with a body punch
and Ragnarsson counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Sundberg! Ragnarsson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ragnarsson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Sundberg is not content to let Ragnarsson control the position.

I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Sundberg manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Sundberg is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Ragnarsson seems to be looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Ragnarsson is trying to work for a kimura but Sundberg is defending well.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Ragnarsson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sundberg moves away. Ragnarsson has been working on his balance at Lovelair Muay Thai/MMA, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Sundberg. Sundberg clobbers Ragnarsson with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Sundberg shoots in for a takedown but Ragnarsson shows good takedown defense. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ragnarsson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sundberg.
Sundberg swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Ove Sundberg is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Ragnarsson avoids the body shot from Sundberg.
Ragnarsson half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
And that's the end of the fight! Ove Sundberg comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Sundberg has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
