PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between German Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kami Kaze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, German Cooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kami Kaze!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kaze moves into the clinch.

Kaze has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Cooper is trying to keep an underhook but Kaze manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Kaze is working for a submission of some sort.
Kaze seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Kaze stops Cooper from getting back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cooper trying to control but Kaze postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kaze not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Cooper has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kaze is working away from the top position though.
Kaze looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Kaze closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kaze looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cooper looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Kaze is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kaze tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cooper knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Kaze is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cooper is just riding it out for now. Kaze eventually gives up the hold.
Cooper keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kaze thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cooper's head.
Cooper has a hand on Kaze's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Kaze takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kaze thowing shots but they're missing.
Cooper might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Cooper wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Kaze.
Kaze controlling from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kaze sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Kaze controlling from the full mount.
Cooper is working to get back to half guard.
Cooper wants to control but Kaze is having none of it.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cooper gets back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kami Kaze dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Kaze has closed the distance and engaged Cooper in a clinch.

Kaze pulls Cooper into guard.
Kaze looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cooper is one step ahead there.
Kaze trying to keep a closed guard but Cooper is proving a slippery customer.
Kaze has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Kaze bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cooper's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kaze is looking to stand up but Cooper won't let him.
Kaze slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kaze throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Cooper is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Kaze is posturing up here but Cooper has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Kaze tries to roll out but it's too tight and Kaze has to tap! Slick submission there by Cooper!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). German Cooper!
