Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tong Po (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mayo Kermode (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kermode is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Song of Australia. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tong Po ! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
37 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mayo Kermode! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Po is looking to clinch but Kermode is avoiding it.
Kermode swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Po tries to clinch up but Kermode circles away and keeps his distance. Kermode tries a head kick but it misses.
Kermode misses with a leg kick and Po counters with a nice leg kick. Kermode fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Po looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Kermode uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Po has time to react.
It looks like Tong Po has been cut. Kermode fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Po has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Mayo Kermode seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Po moves into the clinch. Kermode gets through Po 's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Kermode told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight. Po tries to work over Kermode's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Po misses with a shot to the kidneys.
With the fighters up against the cage, Po throws an elbow but misses. Kermode misses with a hook from the clinch. Po has Kermode pressed against the cage, preventing Kermode from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Po lands a hook to the side of the head. Kermode has had enough of the clinch but Po keeps him there for the moment. Po gets through Kermode's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kermode lands a hook that snaps the head of Po backwards. Po has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Kermode blocks an elbow strike.

Kermode takes a shot to the head. Kermode is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Po is defending well for now. Po pushes Kermode back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Po lands a shot to the body. Po lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Po lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Kermode. Po lands a left hand.

Kermode is rocked! Po lands an elbow just above Kermode 's eye. Kermode is still on wobbly legs! Can Po finish him? A nice glancing elbow lands by Po . Po scores with a shot to the side of Kermode's head. Kermode is pressed against the cage. Po pushes back and unleashes a big elbow that really hurts Kermode! Two more big strikes from Po and Kermode crumples to the mat and taps out furiously due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Tong Po ! Tong Po retains his light heavyweight title! A relieved looking Tong Po thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
