Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bob Fynn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mirko Filipovic!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Francis DeMontford and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as Filipovic checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Fynn jabs Filipovic to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Filipovic keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Fynn.
Filipovic takes one to the chin there.


It looks like Mirko Filipovic has been cut.
Filipovic has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Fynn works over Filipovic's head and body with a nice combination.
Fynn's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Fynn duly obliges.

Fynn rushes Filipovic and presses him up against the cage.
Fynn lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fynn breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Filipovic ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Fynn drives through and clinches with Filipovic against the cage.
Filipovic working hard to break the clinch.
Fynn keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Filipovic's efforts to push away.
A frustrated look appears on Filipovic's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Filipovic tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Filipovic wants to break the clinch but can't.

Fynn breaks from the clinch.
Fynn throws a head kick that Filipovic semi-blocks.
Filipovic takes a swing at Fynn's ribcage but misses.
Bob Fynn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fynn shoots in but Filipovic avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mirko Filipovic is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fynn is looking to land body kicks.
Fynn misses with a looping left.

Filipovic tries to keep at a distance but Fynn has taken the fight into the clinch.
Fynn looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Filipovic is trying to break free.
Filipovic is trying to stall.
Filipovic misses with a punch to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Filipovic wants to stall.

Fynn escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Fynn walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.


It looks like Bob Fynn has been cut.
Fynn connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.


That has opened up Mirko Filipovic's cut even more.

Fynn fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Filipovic, pushing him back against the cage.
Filipovic is trying to stall.

Fynn breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fynn connects with a looping right hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Fynn drives through and clinches with Filipovic against the cage.
Filipovic throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Still in the clinch, Fynn scores with a nice short uppercut.
Filipovic tries a body shot but Fynn blocks it.
Filipovic is trying to maintain a safe position but Fynn gets an underhook and turns Filipovic into the cage.

Fynn pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Fynn has closed the distance and engaged Filipovic in a clinch.

Fynn breaks the clinch.

A low kick from Fynn is predictable there
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Some wild striking there from Filipovic.
Fynn misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Filipovic on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Fynn. Fynn obviously looking to wear him down.
That kick from Filipovic tenderised Fynn's leg. Fynn is trying to keep his angry face on.
Fynn throws a jab when Filipovic was well out of range.
Filipovic gets cracked there but stands up to it.


The cut above Mirko Filipovic's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Filipovic lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Fynn lands a big head kick that sends Filipovic to the canvas! Fynn follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bob Fynn!
Bob Fynn decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
Mirko Filipovic spoke after the fight, saying 'I just didn't follow the gameplan right. I'm better than this and I'll be back on top soon'.
