Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Santiago Arias! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Manolo De Murga! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! De Murga shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Arias eats them both and turns towards De Murga to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Arias tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but De Murga swivels and escapes. De Murga has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Arias shoots in for a takedown but De Murga shows good takedown defense. De Murga displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Arias. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Santiago Arias. That's going to take a lot out of him. De Murga misses with a body shot.
Arias tries to counter by moving into the clinch but De Murga manages to circle out of the way. Arias stuffs the takedown. A swing and a miss from Arias. De Murga fails with a takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. De Murga shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Arias as he avoids it easily. Arias shoots in for a takedown but De Murga shows good takedown defense. Arias shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has De Murga pinned against the cage. De Murga gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fight stays on the outside here - Arias looks like he's thinking about clinching though. De Murga moves into range and clinches up with Arias. Arias wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. De Murga is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Arias gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. De Murga has Arias pressed against the cage, preventing Arias from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Arias has had enough of the clinch but De Murga keeps him there for the moment. Arias looking for a takedown. De Murga is trying to push Arias away but Arias has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Arias wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Arias trying to stall but De Murga improves his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. De Murga pulls guard. Arias looking to pass the guard. De Murga is looking to sweep but instead, Arias has passed into half guard.
De Murga has one foot on Arias's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Arias shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as De Murga sprawls well. De Murga wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Arias gets slowly back to his feet. Arias shoots in for a takedown but De Murga shows good takedown defense. De Murga instigates a clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Arias wants to break free but De Murga has control.
Arias jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as De Murga walks away with a smile on his face. Arias gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. De Murga darts in looking for a takedown but Arias gets double underhooks and turns De Murga into the cage. Arias shoots in for a takedown but De Murga shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. De Murga forces Arias back against the cage and clinches. De Murga pulls guard. Arias wants to control from the top but De Murga keeps moving. De Murga has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Arias has passed into side control.
De Murga is looking for a sweep. De Murga really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Arias. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Arias misses with the ground and pound. De Murga can't do much from the bottom here. De Murga tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Arias presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. De Murga wants to hold on but Arias pushes him away. Arias thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. De Murga is trying desperately to improve position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Manolo De Murga dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Arias shoots in but De Murga avoids the takedown attempt easily. Arias shoots for a takedown but De Murga saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. De Murga pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Arias fails to land with a series of punches.
De Murga checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. De Murga shoots in but no luck this time. De Murga throws a right and a left that Arias avoids nicely. No luck for De Murga with that takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Arias closes the distance and clinches up with De Murga, looking for a takedown. Arias pushes De Murga against the cage but De Murga circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Santiago Arias. That's going to take a lot out of him. Arias stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Arias wants it to stay on the feet. Arias swats away the attempt to clinch by De Murga.
That's one minute gone in the round. Arias shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. De Murga defends it nicely. It seemed like De Murga was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. De Murga clinches with his opponent.
Arias is looking for a takedown. De Murga tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Arias avoids it. De Murga wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Arias has him pressed against the cage. Arias has a couple of punches blocked by De Murga.
De Murga has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Arias is pressed up against the cage. De Murga has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Arias down to the mat. Arias avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Arias stuffs the takedown attempt from De Murga. De Murga gets slowly back to his feet. De Murga is breathing heavily. Arias fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Arias fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. De Murga throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Arias's waist but Arias gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing De Murga off to one side. Arias avoids the head kick by De Murga.
The fight stays on the outside here - Arias looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Manolo De Murga seems to be getting the better of the standup. Arias wants to clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. De Murga swats away the attempt to clinch by Arias. Arias shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and De Murga counters with a lovely shot to the body. Arias lands with a slapping head kick. De Murga pushes Arias up against the cage in a clinch. De Murga is trying to push Arias away but Arias has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. De Murga prevents Arias from breaking the clinch. Arias is looking to control De Murga's arms but De Murga gets an underhook and turns him. Now Arias has his back to the cage. De Murga is pushing Arias up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. De Murga stalling.
The crowd are getting on De Murga's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. De Murga ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. De Murga no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. De Murga avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Arias could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Arias trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Arias working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Arias stands up and waves to De Murga to follow him. Arias shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with De Murga but De Murga pushes him off and we're back to square one. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Arias changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. De Murga tries to avoid it but Arias manages to keep hold of a leg and drag De Murga to the ground. De Murga escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Arias looks for a takedown but De Murga sprawls well. As Arias backs off De Murga throws a huge counter combo but Arias manages to avoid it all. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Manolo De Murga showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

De Murga is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Arias is defending well for now. De Murga wants to break free but Arias has control.
Arias misses with a short punch on the inside. De Murga wants a takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Arias has had enough of the clinch but De Murga keeps him there for the moment. Arias keeps control of De Murga as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Arias drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
De Murga is pushing Arias up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. De Murga is trying to pull guard but Arias has him pressed against the cage. De Murga working hard to break the clinch. Arias jumps guard.
Arias has his foot on De Murga's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. De Murga works his way back into a safe position though.

De Murga won't allow Arias to sweep him here. Arias throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
De Murga sitting in guard here, content to control. Arias is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Arias is looking for a triangle but De Murga pushes his legs off easily.
De Murga looking to sit in guard and control but Arias gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. De Murga is pulling down on Arias's head. It's preventing any offense from Arias, at least for the moment. De Murga will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Santiago Arias has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Manolo De Murga is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! De Murga pulls Arias in to control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Manolo De Murga. I've got De Murga winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
