The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chekananwangi fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging James to the ground. Chekananwangi is now in James's guard.

James drops back, looking for a kneebar! Chekananwangi looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Chekananwangi looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Chekananwangi!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jimmy James is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A punch lands to the side of James 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Nice uppercut lands for Chekananwangi. That snapped James's head back.
James goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Chekananwangi cracks James with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Chekananwangi is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that James can do to turn this around?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Chekananwangi uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Chekananwangi avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Jimmy James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

James throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
James on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
James misses with a body shot.
James scores with a jab.
James takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Chekananwangi jabs James right on the nose. James blinks but takes it well.

Chekananwangi drops James with a right and a left! Chekananwangi comes rushing in but James regains his composure and manages to keep Chekananwangi in guard.

James is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Chekananwangi stands and throws James's legs to the side, diving into side control.
James is still in real trouble! Can Chekananwangi finish him?

Chekananwangi looks up at the clock and then as James takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Chekananwangi smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
A big shot lands for Chekananwangi! That's hurt James! Will he recover? Chekananwangi fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
