Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Angel Powers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Charlee Chase! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chase takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Powers moves into the clinch. Powers is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Chase stalls. Chase avoiding damage.
Chase receives a warning from the referee for stalling. Powers prevents a takedown attempt there.
Powers breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Powers throws a head kick that misses so Chase counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Powers manages to escape and get back to his feet.
A head kick by Powers misses and Chase counters with a three punch combo that has Powers backing up. Powers nods at Chase to acknowledge the strikes. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Powers misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Chase drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Powers defends it well. Danga de danga de dang - Powers scores with a four punch combination! Chase misses with a takedown attempt - Powers sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Chase looks winded! Chase showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Powers.
Nice takedown defense from Powers. No joy for Chase on that attempt. Angel Powers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charlee Chase.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Powers throws a leg kick but Chase sees it coming and moves out of range. Chase with the counter takedown but Powers avoids it easily. A head kick misses from Powers. Powers has managed to clinch.
Powers is trying to force a seperation but Chase has the dominant position. Chase has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Powers is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Chase wants to take the fight to the mat but Powers manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Powers stops a takedown attempt from Chase.
Powers has Chase pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Powers pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Chase tumbling to the mat - Powers dives into Chase's guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Chase avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Powers wants to control from the top but Chase keeps moving. Powers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Powers lands a couple of elbows. Powers controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Chase is looking to stand back up but Powers counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Chase. Powers is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Powers thows a huge punch but Chase dodges it nicely.
Powers wants to control but Chase is keeping him busy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Angel Powers dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Powers rushes Chase and presses him up against the cage. Chase works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Chase prevents Powers from getting back to his feet. Powers is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Powers trying to mount his opponent but Chase defends it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Powers is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Chase doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Powers. Powers is figuring out what he wants to do next. Chase is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Powers is looking to take a break and control but Chase is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Powers decides to stand and escape the position. Chase blocks a head kick by Powers.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Powers throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Chase. Powers throws a head kick that misses. Chase with the counter takedown but Powers avoids it easily. Angel Powers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Powers misses with a head kick.
Powers looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Angel Powers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Powers throws a leg kick so Chase counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Chase is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Powers is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Powers has escaped and now he's on top! Chase utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Powers trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Powers trying to control but Chase is working from the bottom. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chase can do anything to dispel that myth. Powers is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Powers could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Chase working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Powers. Powers won't allow Chase to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Powers lands a couple of digs. Chase keeping moving, preventing Powers from controlling successfully. Powers with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Powers trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Powers is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Chase can do to turn this around? Powers's corner is telling him to maintain position. Chase is trying to control the position but Powers postures up.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Powers throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Chase. Powers throws a sloppy head kick and Chase counters with a takedown into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chase with a poor takedown and Powers counters with a shoot takedown. Chase fights it but they end up in guard. Angel Powers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charlee Chase. Powers slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Powers thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Chase working a defensive guard here.
Angel Powers overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Chase wants a takedown.
Powers gets control of Chase's arms and successfully pulls guard. Powers will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Powers wants to stand but Chase is controlling the position. Powers has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Powers is on top in guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Angel Powers showed his dominance in that final round. Well Powers has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
