Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cody Paris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Northcut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Northcut's choice of entrance music: Black and Blue. Cody Paris could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Rick Northcut's chin.

9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cody Paris! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rick Northcut! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paris is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Northcut's half guard. Northcut missing with punches from the bottom.
Paris content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Northcut desperately trying to maintain half guard. Northcut punching from the bottom.
We've been hearing that Paris has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Northcut is trying to get back to full guard. Northcut has hold of Paris's hands but Paris slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Northcut trying to control here.
Northcut tries to roll over but Paris keeps him under control. Northcut has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Paris is working away from the top position though.

Northcut is refusing to be controlled, as Paris sits in half guard. Paris with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Northcut is not content to let Paris control the position. That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Northcut manages to get to full guard.
Paris engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Paris won't allow Northcut to sweep him here. Paris wants to pass the guard but Northcut is keeping the position. Paris working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Northcut's head. Paris lands a couple of decent looking shots. Paris scoring with some ground and pound. Paris postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Northcut looking for a sweep. Not yet Northcut, not yet. Northcut is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paris is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Paris stopping the sweep attempt from Northcut. Northcut is trying to keep Paris in close.
Paris throws a big right hand that misses. Northcut is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. We've been informed that Northcut has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Northcut is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Northcut is trying to control the position but Paris postures up. Paris works over Northcut with some ground and pound from guard. Northcut tries to land a sweep but no joy. Paris is stalling in the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Northcut not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Paris throwing strikes but missing. Paris wants to pass the guard but Northcut is keeping the position. Paris postures up.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Paris postures up and lands a big shot to Northcut's brow. Northcut tries to land a sweep but no joy. Paris controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Paris throws a big right hand that misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cody Paris dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Paris shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Northcut napping and manages to drive through into side control! Paris working away. Paris throws an elbow but Northcut slips to the side and avoids it well. You can see the frustration on Northcut's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Paris cracks Northcut with a big right hand but Northcut just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Northcut can't do much from the bottom here. Paris working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Northcut wants to control but Paris postures up. Paris trying to control the position but Northcut is working away. Paris has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Northcut prevents Paris from moving into mount. Northcut tries to bench press Paris off him but Paris keeps the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Northcut tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Northcut is in all sorts of trouble here.
Paris takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Paris is in the full mount, landing strikes. Paris controlling from mount. Paris raining down hammerfists from mount. Northcut tries to hold on but Paris pushes him away. Paris unloading with bombs! Paris controlling from mount. Northcut wants to control but Paris is having none of it. Paris scoring with strikes but Northcut is staying in there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Paris trying to control but Northcut is having none of it. Paris pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Northcut is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Northcut keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Northcut wants to hold on but Paris pushes him away. Northcut regains half guard. Northcut trying to control from the bottom.
Paris is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Northcut! Paris lands a big elbow. Paris prevents Northcut from getting the reversal. Paris takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Paris putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Northcut is still in real trouble! Can Paris finish him?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Northcut really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Northcut seems to have recovered his senses. Paris lands with some strikes. Northcut takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Paris's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cody Paris! Cody Paris retains his welterweight title! A less than humble Cody Paris misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
