Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Barney Wehmer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gaga Kaka!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kaka fails with a takedown attempt.
Wehmer has a takedown stuffed.
Kaka shoots in for a takedown but Wehmer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Wehmer tries to counter with a takedown but Kaka is quick to defend against it.
Gaga Kaka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kaka doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Wehmer counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Barney Wehmer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gaga Kaka.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kaka wants to control the position but Wehmer says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Nice strikes from Wehmer there.
Kaka regains full guard. Nicely done.
Kaka wants to sweep but no luck.
Kaka looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Wehmer passes into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Kaka tries to bench press Wehmer off him but Wehmer keeps the position.
Wehmer tries for a kimura but Kaka is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wehmer tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wehmer has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Wehmer trying to control the position but Kaka is working away.
Kaka tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wehmer landing a few strikes.
Kaka is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Wehmer is controlling him well.
Kaka felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Wehmer is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Kaka looks calm but he's in trouble here. Wehmer gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Kaka is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Wehmer lets go of the hold and Kaka can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Barney Wehmer!
A very excited looking Barney Wehmer rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
