Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Michael Blake and Percy Schmeiser. Schmeiser is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: David vs Monsanto. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 12 wins and 2 losses; Michael Blake! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 1 losses; Percy Schmeiser! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Dean Styles and Chad Campbell.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Blake takes the fight into the clinch. Schmeiser has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Blake is trying to keep an underhook but Schmeiser manages to get the takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Blake (0) vs (2) Schmeiser Schmeiser is working for a submission of some sort.
Schmeiser controlling the pace. Schmeiser tries to pass the half guard into mount. Blake knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Blake is trying to get back to full guard. Schmeiser looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Blake keeping control of the position. We've been hearing good reports from Blake's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schmeiser is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Blake is just riding it out for now. Schmeiser eventually gives up the hold. Schmeiser seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Blake does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Schmeiser advances to half guard. Schmeiser working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Blake's thigh. Blake counters though and makes it back to full guard. Blake is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Blake (2) vs (2) Schmeiser Blake is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Schmeiser doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Blake. Still in half guard, Blake seems content to control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Blake is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Schmeiser! Score +3 for passing guard: Blake (5) vs (2) Schmeiser Blake trying to control but Schmeiser is having none of it. Schmeiser tries to get back to half guard but can't. Blake tries to control but Schmeiser wriggling away. Schmeiser reaches up to try and control the position but Blake seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Schmeiser rolls and tries to escape and now Blake has his back!

That's five minutes gone in the round. Blake not allowing Schmeiser to control his hands. Schmeiser prevents Blake from getting a body triangle. Blake goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Schmeiser escapes and is now in half guard on top. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Blake (8) vs (4) Schmeiser Schmeiser is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Schmeiser is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Blake sees it coming and defends easily.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Blake tries to roll over but Schmeiser keeps him under control. Schmeiser is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Blake defends it well. Blake tries to get to full guard but Schmeiser has control of the leg. Schmeiser is thwarting Blake's attempts to control the position.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Schmeiser trying to control the action but Blake is working from the bottom. Schmeiser is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Schmeiser is looking to take a break and control but Blake is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Schmeiser is looking for a kimura here.
Blake manages to get to full guard.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Blake keeping moving, preventing Schmeiser from controlling successfully. Schmeiser looking to improve position, pressing down on Blake's thigh with his hand. Blake seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Schmeiser paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Schmeiser's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Blake picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
