Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Saleem Al Khan and Manny Puno. Chooooooooon! I think Al Khan might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Three Days Grace - Scared. Saleem Al Khan is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 3 losses; Saleem Al Khan! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 0 losses; Manny Puno! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jonathan Paton and Russell Pearce.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Puno keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Al Khan wants to clinch. Al Khan slaps away a takedown attempt from Puno, before circling back to the center of the mat. No luck with that takedown attempt from Puno. Puno rushes Al Khan and presses him up against the cage. Puno decides to pull guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Puno is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Al Khan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Puno swivels though and keeps the full guard. Al Khan wants to control from the top but Puno keeps moving. Puno is pulling down on Al Khan's head to control his posture. Al Khan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Puno holds on and takes a little breather. Al Khan preventing the sweep. Al Khan trying to control but Puno is working from the bottom. Puno bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Al Khan's guard. That's five minutes gone in the round. Puno wants to pass the guard but Al Khan is defending well. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Puno working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Puno goes for a cartwheel guard pass here but Al Khan does a handstand and catches Puno in mid air with a triangle! Could it be? It is! It's the triple decker pecker wrecker! The fighters land on the ground with Al Khan on top - Puno is already out from the submission! Al Khan gives Puno's pecker the obligatory post submission twist and this one is aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall over! Are you kidding me! That is world class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. That guy is my hero!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (TDPW) . Saleem Al Khan! As Saleem Al Khan got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: I am the freedom fighter, I'll fight for my people until death, and represent my land everywhere I go, look out for me!'. |
