Coming up we have a heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Ichabod Crane and A J Hearts. Crane comes to the cage accompanied by Broken Bones - Decapitated. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 0 losses; Ichabod Crane! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 1 losses; A J Hearts! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Joseph Jones and Dean Styles.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Crane doesn't succeed with the takedown and Hearts counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Crane! Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Crane (0) vs (4) Hearts Crane is trying to get back to half guard. We've been hearing good reports from Crane's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Crane can't do much from the bottom here. Hearts tries to advance to mount but Crane denies him. Hearts keeps trying to improve his position. My spies in Gym Beam inform me that Hearts has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Hearts thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Crane tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Crane really must keep his cool here. He's controlling one of Hearts's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position. Crane trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Crane rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Hearts trying to control the action but Crane is working from the bottom. Hearts looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's five minutes gone in the round. Crane controlling the position well. Crane wants to improve his position but Hearts is controlling well.
Hearts is pressing down on Crane's thigh, looking to free his foot. Crane is holding on for now.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Hearts prevents Crane from improving his position. Hearts performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Hearts trying to mount his opponent but Crane defends it. Hearts seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Crane does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Crane is looking to improve his position.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Hearts is looking for a kimura but Crane is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hearts to get the leverage. Crane tries to roll over but Hearts keeps him under control. Hearts seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Crane does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Hearts passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Crane looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Crane is working hard here to advance position. Hearts got a little sloppy there for a moment and Crane has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hearts has managed to get both his arms back between Crane's legs - danger averted.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Crane looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hearts puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Hearts trying to pass the guard but Crane defending well. Crane is looking for a sweep. Hearts is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Crane slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Hearts is looking to advance position but Crane has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! That's ten minutes gone in the round. Crane trying to control the action but Hearts is working from the bottom. Hearts is pressing down on Crane's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Crane will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Hearts keeping full guard, as Crane tries to pass. That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Hearts tries to improve position but can't. Hearts regains half guard. Hearts gets full guard. Crane is fighting to break Hearts's control of his arms but Hearts is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Crane pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hearts is keeping the position for now. Hearts keeping moving, preventing Crane from controlling successfully. Hearts looking for a sweep. Not yet Hearts, not yet.

Hearts has his foot on Crane's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Crane works his way back into a safe position though. Crane trying to control the position from guard on top but Hearts is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hearts trying to keep a closed guard but Crane is proving a slippery customer.

You can't force these things though and Crane defends well. Crane stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hearts swivels though and keeps the full guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Crane trying to control but Hearts is working from the bottom.
