Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Bestar Andreasson! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Columbo Gatti and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Andreasson misses with a kick to the body.
Andreasson misses with a leg kick and Vakarchuk counters with a nice double leg into side control. Andreasson won't be happy with that. Vakarchuk scores with a couple of short elbows. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vakarchuk throws a strike aimed at the side of Andreasson's head but Andreasson avoids it well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vakarchuk goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Andreasson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Vakarchuk but great work by Andreasson. Vakarchuk wants to control but Andreasson postures up. Vakarchuk tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Andreasson presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Vakarchuk is trying desperately to improve position. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Andreasson stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Andreasson misses with a hook. Andreasson scores with a jab to the jaw.
It looks like Svyatoslav Vakarchuk has been cut. Andreasson throws a hook but Vakarchuk blocks it. Vakarchuk moves forwards but Andreasson connects with a nice, crisp jab. Andreasson throws a low kick, looking for Vakarchuk's leg but Vakarchuk calmly moves out of range. Vakarchuk moves out of range of the strikes. Andreasson pivots, looking for a leg kick but Vakarchuk is out of range and Andreasson settles back down. Vakarchuk appears to be looking for a big counter. Andreasson tests Vakarchuk's chin there with a solid looking shot. Vakarchuk swats away the attempt to clinch by Andreasson. Vakarchuk is looking for a counter combo. Andreasson misses with a straight right. We've been hearing reports that Vakarchuk has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Andreasson throws a jab when Vakarchuk was well out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Andreasson throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Andreasson tries to clinch up but Vakarchuk circles away and keeps his distance. Nice uppercut there from Andreasson. Vakarchuk on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Vakarchuk moves out of range of the strikes. A little feinted left hand from Vakarchuk on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Vakarchuk with a lazy takedown attempt and Andreasson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Andreasson fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Andreasson tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Vakarchuk is trying to pull guard but Andreasson turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Andreasson lands a nice uppercut. Andreasson misses with a short punch on the inside. Vakarchuk has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Andreasson uses from the top position. Vakarchuk working for a triangle but Andreasson defends it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Andreasson in side control, just content to control the action for now. Vakarchuk tries to buck Andreasson off but Andreasson is having none of it. Andreasson wants to control but Vakarchuk is keeping him busy. Vakarchuk tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Andreasson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Andreasson decides to stand up, so the ref orders Vakarchuk to his feet. Vakarchuk takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Bestar Andreasson dominated that round. The cut man is working on Svyatoslav Vakarchuk's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
A telegraphed right hand from Andreasson misses the target. Vakarchuk appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Vakarchuk shoots in for a takedown but Andreasson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Vakarchuk takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Andreasson throws a looping overhand right but Vakarchuk ducks down to avoid it. Andreasson with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Bestar Andreasson seems to be getting the better of the standup. A head kick by Andreasson misses so Vakarchuk counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Vakarchuk landing with the ground and pound. Andreasson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Vakarchuk has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vakarchuk missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Vakarchuk throwing strikes from guard but Andreasson blocks nicely. Svyatoslav Vakarchuk overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Vakarchuk scoring with punches to the head and body. Vakarchuk advances to half guard. Vakarchuk trying to control the action but Andreasson is working from the bottom. Andreasson has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Vakarchuk thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Andreasson's head. Andreasson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Vakarchuk is working away from the top position though. Andreasson is trying to get back to full guard.

Andreasson manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Andreasson has momentary wrist control but Vakarchuk slips an elbow through the middle. Vakarchuk looking to pass the guard. Andreasson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Vakarchuk works a leg free and moves into half guard. Andreasson is looking to control Vakarchuk's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Andreasson avoid being mounted? Andreasson tries to roll over but Vakarchuk keeps him under control. Vakarchuk is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
