Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Nathaniel Sloan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nathaniel Sloan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Black!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Jorge Garcia and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Sloan counter with a right hand.
John Black seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sloan displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Black.
Black ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sloan moves away.
Black looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Sloan swats away the attempt to clinch by Black.
Sloan appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sloan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Black was well out of range. Poor timing from Sloan.
Black misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Black instigates a clinch.
Sloan fails to pull guard.

Sloan successfully pulls guard.
Sloan looking for a sweep. Not yet Sloan, not yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Black trying to control but Sloan is working from the bottom.
Black must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Black looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Black throws an elbow that misses. Sloan uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Black's guard. Nice move by Sloan!


Black is working an open guard so Sloan takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Black darts in looking for a takedown but Sloan gets double underhooks and turns Black into the cage.
Sloan quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Nathaniel Sloan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Black.
The fight stays on the outside here - Black looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Black.
Black shoots in for a double leg but Sloan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Black looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Sloan seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Black shoots and misses

and Sloan counters by clinching up.
Black looks winded!

Sloan lands a takedown into guard.
Sloan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Black works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Sloan trying to control the position from guard on top but Black is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sloan chips away with some ground and pound.

Sloan tries to stand but Black is controlling from the bottom.
Sloan postures up in Black's guard and throws a big left but Black blocks it.

Sloan drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sloan jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Black trying to keep a closed guard but Sloan is proving a slippery customer.
Black has a closed guard, preventing Sloan from standing up.

Sloan stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Black rushes Sloan and presses him up against the cage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Sloan has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Black is trying to keep an underhook but Sloan manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Sloan is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Sloan seems to be working for a kimura but Black defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Black is controlling Sloan's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Sloan prevents Black from improving his position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sloan is keen to just control but Black is a slippery customer.
Black holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

A low kick from Black is predictable there

and Sloan counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Black wants to control but Sloan is keeping busy.
Black is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Black is looking to control Sloan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Black avoid being mounted?
Sloan tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Black is trying to stand up here but Sloan is controlling him well.
Sloan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Sloan is working for a kimura here but Black manages to reverse the position and he's now in Sloan's guard.

Black wants to control from the top but Sloan keeps moving.
Black in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Black trying to control but Sloan is working from the bottom.
Sloan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Black can do to turn this around?
Sloan looking for a sweep. Not yet Sloan, not yet.

Sloan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Black can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Sloan wants to sweep here but Black controlling him for the moment.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Black controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Sloan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Black looking to pass the guard.

Sloan throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Sloan is looking for a triangle but Black pushes his legs off easily.

Black stays in close to Sloan's body and controls the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Black moves out of range of the body kick from Sloan.
Black misses with a takedown

and Sloan moves into the clinch.
Black is trying to pull guard but Sloan turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Black wants to break free but Sloan has control.
Sloan has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Black is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Black is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Sloan is defending well.

Black is breathing heavily.
Sloan wants to take the fight to the mat but Black manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

The referee is keeping an eye on Sloan - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Sloan jumps guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Sloan throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Black escapes and throws Sloan's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Black tries for a kimura but Sloan is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Nathaniel Sloan will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

As Black tries to get set, Sloan tries to push him back and clinch up but Black manages to avoid the attempt.

Sloan misses with a series of wild punches.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Black is defended easily by Sloan.
Black tries for a takedown but Sloan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Black tries to close the distance and clinch but Sloan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Black pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Sloan tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Black manages to circle out of the way.
Black darts in looking for a takedown but Sloan gets double underhooks and turns Black into the cage.

Sloan swings for the body but Black moves out of range.
Black uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Sloan.
Black takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Sloan looks for the body kick but Black saw that one coming.
Sloan fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Black.
Sloan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Black misses with a takedown attempt

and Sloan counters with a single leg into guard. Black didn't expect that.
Sloan wants to get up but he can't break Black's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Sloan engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Black has a closed guard, preventing Sloan from standing up.
Sloan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Sloan stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Black throws a series of strikes that have Sloan backpedaling.
Sloan throws a body punch but Black moves out of range.
Sloan throws a wild body kick that Black sees coming a mile off.
Black tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sloan swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sloan throws a push kick but Black slaps the foot to one side.
Sloan swings and misses with a hook to the body.
As Sloan backs off Black throws a huge counter combo but Sloan manages to avoid it all.
Black tries to clinch there but Sloan circles away.
Black has his takedown stuffed

and Sloan holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Black jumps guard but Sloan turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Sloan pulls guard effortlessly.
Sloan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
John Black has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Nathaniel Sloan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Sloan has his hands on Black's head, controlling the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nathaniel Sloan showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Sloan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
