Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Greg Garrison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, All American! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! American fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Garrison waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract American. American tries to clinch there but Garrison circles away.
Garrison throws a shot from downtown. American moves away and avoids it. American let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Garrison looks to land a right hand but American moved out of range. Garrison misses the shot to the body. Garrison throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
American is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Garrison. American throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Garrison's waist but Garrison gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing American off to one side. American takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Garrison lands a body shot.
Garrison throws a head kick that misses. Garrison slips under a jab from American. American blocks a head kick by Garrison.
American unleashes a big counter combination but Garrison bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. American throws a right hand that misses
and American takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's one minute gone in the round. Garrison looks to land a right hand but American moved out of range. American shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Garrison as he avoids it easily. Greg Garrison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of All American. American throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
American tries to close the distance and clinch but Garrison swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. American shoots in looking for a takedown but Garrison manages to keep the fight standing, pushing American's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. A big left from Garrison misses. American fails miserably with a takedown attempt. American tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Garrison was well out of range. Poor timing from American. American has a takedown stuffed. A little feinted left hand from Garrison on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. American shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Garrison sprawls well. Garrison wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. American gets slowly back to his feet. Garrison throws a jab but it's blocked by American. American throws out a counter right but Garrison avoids it with no problem.
That's two minutes gone in the round. No luck for American with that takedown attempt. Garrison waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract American. Garrison fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
American is looking to clinch. American tries to clinch up but Garrison circles away and keeps his distance. Garrison buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
American fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Garrison, pushing him back against the cage. A short left from Garrison. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Garrison lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down American. American is trying to drag Garrison to the mat but Garrison just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Garrison breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Nice defenses there by Garrison. Garrison swinging wildly here.
American is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Garrison misses with a series of wild punches.
Garrison leaves American with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Garrison swats away the attempt to clinch by American. American throws a sloppy body shot
and Garrison counters with a flying knee that drops American! Garrison dives in and finishes the fight with a flurry of strikes from the mount!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Greg Garrison! A very excited looking Greg Garrison made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
