Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between William Rickson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Henderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, William Rickson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dan Henderson! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jorge Garcia and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Henderson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Rickson shoots in looking for a takedown. Henderson tries to sprawl out of it but Rickson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Henderson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Rickson misses with a takedown attempt - Henderson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. The fight stays on the outside here - Henderson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Rickson shoots in for a takedown but Henderson shows good takedown defense. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for William Rickson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rickson shoots for a double leg takedown but Henderson sprawls well. He's pushed Rickson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Henderson throws a nice looking combination but Rickson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Henderson throws a head kick but Rickson moves out of range.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rickson. Henderson lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Dan Henderson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Henderson keeping moving, preventing Rickson from controlling successfully. Henderson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Henderson closes the distance and clinches. Henderson wants to break the clinch but can't.

Henderson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rickson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Rickson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Henderson stacks Rickson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Henderson! The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. The strikes coming from Henderson are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Henderson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Henderson takes the fight into the clinch. Rickson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Henderson just stands there and leans against the cage. Henderson has Rickson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rickson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Rickson looking for a takedown. Henderson lands an elbow that stopped Rickson in his tracks for a moment. Rickson prevents Henderson from breaking the clinch. Rickson tries to pull guard but Henderson won't allow it.
Henderson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Henderson pushes Rickson up against the cage in a clinch. Henderson jumps guard.
Henderson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dan Henderson dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Rickson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Rickson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Henderson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Rickson is trying to work for a kimura but Henderson is defending well.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Rickson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Henderson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Rickson is looking to take a break and control but Henderson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Henderson tries to clinch there but Rickson circles away.

It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

A much better position for Henderson. Rickson wants to pass the guard but Henderson is keeping the position. Henderson keeping moving, preventing Rickson from controlling successfully. Henderson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Rickson is not content to let Henderson control the position. Henderson is thwarting Rickson's attempts to control the position.

Rickson is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Henderson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rickson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Rickson has his foot on Henderson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Henderson works his way back into a safe position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rickson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Henderson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rickson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Henderson's back instead. Henderson breaks Rickson's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to William Rickson. I think Rickson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
