Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Liam McRae (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kendrik Down (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Down has chosen Let's Go as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Liam McRae!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kendrik Down!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McRae tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Down paws at him with a jab and circles away.
McRae looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

McRae clinches with his opponent.
Down tries for a takedown. No joy.
McRae doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
McRae landing knees to the body.
McRae has a couple of punches blocked by Down.
McRae tries to land a knee to the head but Down blocks with his arms.
McRae throws a punch but it's blocked by Down.
Down misses with a shot to the kidneys.
A body shot lands from McRae.
McRae tries to throw a body punch but Down avoids it by throwing McRae back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McRae misses with a punch to the body.
Down tries to score a body lock takedown but McRae shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
McRae tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
McRae prevents the takedown attempt.
Liam McRae has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kendrik Down.
McRae throws a punch but it's blocked by Down.

Down is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. McRae can't fight it off and eventually Down manages to take the fight to the floor. McRae looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

McRae wants to stand up but Down is controlling him.
Down slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Down keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of McRae's head.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Down is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

McRae is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Down is controlling him.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

McRae tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Down blocks an uppercut.
Down has McRae pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. McRae manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
McRae struggles to land a body shot inside as Down controls his hands.

McRae fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Down's coach down at Brimstone Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Down's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Down breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A jab from Down does it's job there.
Down lands a nice shot to the body.

Down shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Down was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

A lull in the action here as Down stalls from top position.
Down is looking to take a break and control but McRae is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

McRae pushes Down away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Down gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
McRae avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Down.
You can see the frustration on McRae's face as Down controls the position.
Down is trying to ground and pound but McRae uses the momentary lack of control by Down to regain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Down working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

A close round but Kendrik Down will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Down keeps the fight on the outside.
Down scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
McRae staying out of range there.
McRae went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Down has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
McRae takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
McRae tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Down manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
McRae moves in looking to clinch but Down pushes him off.

Down looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Down throws an overhand right that lands on McRae's shoulder, as McRae tries to avoid the shot.
McRae tries to close the distance and clinch up but Down swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A looping hook to the body misses from Down. McRae does a little dance to reset his feet.
McRae takes one to the side of the head.
Down does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Down fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Down dips to his left and cracks McRae with an uppercut!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Down feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits McRaes jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

McRae scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Down manages to mount him!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Down tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Down has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of McRae's face.
Down lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Down cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Kendrik Down showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Down must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
McRae can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Down controls the pace.

McRae tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
