Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maki Pulu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Monte Zuma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Pulu might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Alive. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, David Schapiro and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zuma takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
It looks like Monte Zuma has been cut.
Pulu manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Zuma on his heels. He'll look to pass Zuma's guard now, I'm sure.
Pulu trying to control but Zuma is working from the bottom.
Pulu drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Zuma manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pulu has Zuma in his guard.
Zuma tries to free his leg and advance position but Pulu is retaining full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pulu wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like Maki Pulu has been cut.

A lazy left from Pulu finds it's target.
Pulu cracks Zuma with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Zuma ducks right into an uppercut from Pulu.
Nice sprawl there from Zuma as Pulu shoots in.
Pulu sets himself, and Zuma steps forward looking for the clinch! Pulu avoids it this time.

Pulu scores with a hook to the body. Zuma takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Zuma looks for a takedown but Pulu sprawls well.
A quick step to the side and Pulu tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Zuma stuffs the takedown attempt from Pulu. Pulu gets slowly back to his feet.

Pulu rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Zuma cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Maki Pulu is winning the standup battle so far.
Pulu throws a head kick that misses.
Zuma looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Pulu is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Zuma can do to turn this around?
Pulu throws a body punch but Zuma moves out of range.
A little jabbing left from Zuma on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Pulu misses with a body kick.
Pulu stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Pulu feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Zuma is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pulu is aware though and is defending well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Well Pulu has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
