Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rafa Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Delled Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rafa Mendes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Delled Armstrong!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Steve Montenegro and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Armstrong has Mendes up against the cage in a clinch.

Armstrong has picked Mendes up - he's going for a ride! Armstrong dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Armstrong throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Armstrong keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Mendes manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Mendes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mendes throws a combination that misses

and Armstrong counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Mendes!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mendes wants to get back to his feet but Armstrong drags him back down.
Armstrong moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Armstrong is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mendes is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Mendes is pushing Armstrong's head away, looking to escape. Armstrong manages to hold on to the position though.

Armstrong has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Mendes throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Mendes checks a low kick from Armstrong.
Mendes throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Armstrong.
Armstrong moves into range and connects with a jab.
Mendes scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Armstrong needs to keep his hands up - Mendes had a free shot at his head there.
Mendes misses with a double jab.
Rafa Mendes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Armstrong clinches with his opponent.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Armstrong has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Mendes regains guard immediately.

Armstrong has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Armstrong seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Armstrong is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Armstrong controlling the position easily from mount.

Delled Armstrong dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Armstrong has closed the distance and engaged Mendes in a clinch.
Mendes working hard to break the clinch.
Mendes has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Mendes tries to break free but Armstrong pushes him back against the cage.
Mendes tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Armstrong breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Nice takedown defense from Mendes. No joy for Armstrong on that attempt.

Armstrong closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Armstrong keeps control of Mendes as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Come on Armstrong - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Armstrong jumps into guard, dragging Mendes to the mat.
Armstrong controlling Mendes's posture.
Mendes has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Armstrong is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Mendes trying to stand up but can't free himself from Armstrong's guard.
Armstrong is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Armstrong slips a nice elbow through Mendes's hands, connecting with Mendes's forehead.
Armstrong takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Armstrong is taking a breather. Mendes says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Armstrong's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Mendes is defending against the submission attempts here by Armstrong.

Mendes is trying to stand back up but Armstrong is controlling him

Armstrong gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Mendes tries to sprawl but Armstrong drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Armstrong is taking a breather. Mendes says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Armstrong has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mendes wants to get back to his feet.

Armstrong is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Mendes pushes Armstrong off looking to stand but Armstrong dives back in and keeps control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Armstrong content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Delled Armstrong showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Mendes is trying to stand but he's just given Armstrong his back.

Armstrong has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Mendes.

Armstrong is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Mendes has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Armstrong is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Armstrong lands a shot to the head.

Armstrong looking to break Mendes's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Mendes remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Armstrong will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Mendes is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
