Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Nordquist! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chris Nooles! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nordquist throws out a loose jab but Nooles uses good head movement to avoid it. Decent striking displayed by Nooles there. Nordquist slips under a jab from Nooles. Nooles tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nordquist was well out of range. Poor timing from Nooles. Nooles keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Nordquist looks to land a right hand but Nooles moved out of range. A big right from Nooles misses. Nordquist appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Nordquist misses with an uppercut. Nooles saw that one coming. Nooles tests Nordquist's chin there with a solid looking shot. Nooles looks to throw the jab but Nordquist is out of range. Nordquist takes a swing at Nooles's ribcage but misses. Nooles scores with a nice head shot. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nordquist throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Nordquist scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nordquist looks up at the clock and then as Nooles takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Nordquist smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Nooles really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nordquist. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Nordquist landing a few strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. The ground and pound from Nordquist seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Nooles tries to improve position but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nooles managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Nordquist.
Nordquist has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Nordquist in side control, throwing shots but Nooles defends. Nooles defending against the ground and pound. Nooles dodges the ground and pound from Nordquist. Nooles tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Nordquist wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Nordquist scores with punches from side control. Nordquist misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Nordquist has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Nooles is looking for a sweep. Nordquist working the ground and pound but Nooles is defending the strikes. Nooles is looking for a sweep. Nordquist is trying to get an arm triangle but Nooles is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nooles is working to avoid the ground and pound but Nordquist connects with a decent elbow. Nordquist working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Nooles defending against the ground and pound. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nordquist working away diligently from side control. Nooles is rocked! Nooles is looking to regain half guard here but Nordquist keeps moving and retains side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nordquist grinds an elbow into Nooles's temple. Nooles is still in real trouble! Can Nordquist finish him? Nordquist fails to land a wild elbow strike.

A big shot lands for Nordquist! That's hurt Nooles! Will he recover? Nordquist fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Nordquist! John Nordquist tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
