Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ramses Xll (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cole comes to the cage accompanied by I Won't Back Down. Xll is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Scarab - Ankh. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

I was talking to Cole's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Xll's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Xll swings wildly with an uppercut but Cole uses good head movement to avoid it.

Cole tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Cole avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Cole swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Xll scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Cole doesn't seem bothered though.

and Xll counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Cole thinking.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Xll enables Cole to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Xll manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Xll is on top in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cole content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cole stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Xll swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cole is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Xll has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Cole uses from the top position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Michael Cole will probably get the nod.
