Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Walter Kurtz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sinbad Baba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kurtz comes to the cage accompanied by Adagio For Strings. Baba is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: King of Seven Seas. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sinbad Baba!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Daniel Bishop and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurtz defending well as Baba loads up on a big left hand.
Baba throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kurtz cracks Baba with an open hand slap.
Kurtz looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Baba misses with a hook
and Kurtz counters with a nice low kick that buckles Baba's knee momentarily.
Baba throws a nice inside leg kick.
Kurtz tries to land a leg kick but Baba saw it coming and moves away.
Baba lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Kurtz throws a body punch but Baba moves out of range.
Baba smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.


It looks like Walter Kurtz has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Baba's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Baba is looking to slow Kurtz down with leg kicks.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Baba has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Baba moves out of range of the body kick.

Some bone on bone action there as Baba checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Baba throws an overhand right that lands on Kurtz's shoulder, as Kurtz tries to avoid the shot.
Kurtz's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Baba connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kurtz scrambles back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kurtz lands a front kick.
Kurtz scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Baba takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kurtz lands with a nice body punch.
Baba tries a low kick but Kurtz avoids it.
The fighters circling - Baba throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Kurtz displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Baba throws out the jab.

Sinbad Baba seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Baba fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kurtz looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Baba tries to clinch but Kurtz is having none of it.
A nice leg kick lands there from Kurtz.
Kurtz is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Baba chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Kurtz can pounce on him.

A little feinted left hand from Kurtz on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Kurtz checks a low kick from Baba.
Baba throws a hook to the side of Kurtz's head but Kurtz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Kurtz drops his hands momentarily and Baba takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Baba fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kurtz misses with a body shot.
Baba is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Baba throws a body punch but Kurtz moves out of range.
It appears Kurtz was looking to counter with a kick there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kurtz jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Kurtz connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Baba moves out of range of the strikes.
Baba throws a nice looking combination but Kurtz bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Baba with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Baba throws out a powerful jab.
Kurtz scores with a jab. Baba acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
A swing and a miss from Kurtz.
Baba takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Baba works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Kurtz throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Baba scores with the left hand. Kurtz knows he should have avoided that one.
Good work by Kurtz as he checks the leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Walter Kurtz will probably get the nod.

Kurtz fakes the body blow, causing Baba to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Baba goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
