Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tommy Vercetti!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Bruno Lombardi and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vercetti has managed to clinch.

Vercetti breaks from the clinch.
Tommy Vercetti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vercetti drives through and clinches with Hyde against the cage.
Vercetti keeps control of Hyde as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Vercetti breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Vercetti fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hyde, pushing him back against the cage.

Vercetti's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Vercetti keeps the fight on the outside.
Vercetti scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


It looks like Kory Hyde has been cut.
Vercetti misses with a kick to the body

so Hyde counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Vercetti has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Hyde off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Vercetti darts in and clinches Hyde up against the cage.
Hyde misses with a hook to the ribs.
Hyde tries to land knees in the clinch but Vercetti avoids the damage to the body.

Vercetti breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Vercetti throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Hyde takes the fight into the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Vercetti - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Hyde tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Vercetti wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Vercetti breaks from the clinch.

Vercetti closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Vercetti in particular looking to stall.

Vercetti is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Vercetti has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hyde is proving hard to escape from.
Vercetti tries to free his leg and advance position but Hyde is retaining full guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Vercetti has closed the distance and engaged Hyde in a clinch.

Vercetti escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hyde looks to throw the jab but Vercetti is out of range.
Despite the aggression on Vercetti's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Vercetti fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hyde sprawls well initially but Vercetti persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Hyde kicks Vercetti off and gets back to his feet.
Hyde tries to clinch up but Vercetti circles away and keeps his distance.

Vercetti shoots in and gets a takedown into Hyde's guard.
Vercetti is looking to stand up but Hyde won't let him.
Vercetti pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hyde is keeping the position for now.
Vercetti works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Vercetti is looking for a kimura here.
Vercetti takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Hyde works his way to full guard. Good work.
Vercetti slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tommy Vercetti dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kory Hyde's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Hyde tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Vercetti avoids it.

Vercetti gets control of Hyde's arms and successfully pulls guard. Vercetti will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Vercetti pulls Hyde in close to his closed guard and prevents Hyde from doing any damage or advancing position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hyde won't allow Vercetti to sweep him here.

Vercetti closes the distance and pushes Hyde back into the cage.
Vercetti has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

and Vercetti counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Vercetti.

Hyde fails in his attempt to clinch.
Hyde tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Vercetti manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hyde moves in looking to clinch but Vercetti pushes him off.

Vercetti avoiding damage as Hyde throws knees to the body.

Vercetti breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Vercetti changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hyde looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hyde is trying to work for a sweep but Vercetti has mounted him!

Let's hope that Vercetti has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Vercetti trying to control but Hyde is having none of it.
BOOM! Vercetti connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Vercetti looking to secure an arm triangle but Hyde defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hyde takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Vercetti's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
