PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Geraldo Armstrong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bowen Chase (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bowen Chase!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Armstrong throws a series of punches but Chase avoids them all with ease.

Chase is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Armstrong can't fight it off and eventually Chase manages to take the fight to the floor. Armstrong looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Armstrong working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chase doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chase manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chase throws a strike but Armstrong rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Armstrong has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Chase is on him like a limpet, forcing Armstrong back against the cage.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Armstrong holds on and takes a little breather.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Chase shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Armstrong napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Armstrong is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Chase is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Armstrong doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Chase.

Chase is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Chase lands a nice short elbow.

Chase loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Chase postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Armstrong is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Chase, into his guard.


Armstrong thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Armstrong throws a right hand that Chase ducks under and follows up with a left that Chase also avoids with ease.

Chase shoots in and gets a takedown into Armstrong's guard.
Armstrong is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Armstrong wants to sweep but no luck.
Armstrong is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Armstrong has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Armstrong escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Chase gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Chase is looking to stand up but Armstrong won't let him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Chase drops back, looking for a kneebar! Armstrong looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Armstrong looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Armstrong!

Armstrong decides to stand up, so the ref orders Chase to his feet.

Armstrong moves into the clinch successfully.
Armstrong tries to score a body lock takedown but Chase shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Armstrong throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Chase blocks it with crossed arms.
Armstrong is working for takedown but Chase is calmly controlling the position for now.
