Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brad Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Will DeWhitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brad Stevens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Will DeWhitt! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Hugh Johnson and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stevens tries to bum rush DeWhitt with a series of wild strikes but DeWhitt uses good footwork to avoid the assault. DeWhitt looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Stevens shoots in and bounces DeWhitt off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. DeWhitt wants to sweep here but Stevens controlling him for the moment. Stevens postures up and lands a big shot to DeWhitt's brow. Stevens trying to control the position from guard on top but DeWhitt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. DeWhitt trying to control the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Stevens drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Stevens trying to control the action but DeWhitt is working from the bottom. Stevens taking a breather here. Stevens tries to move into full mount but can't pass DeWhitt's legs. DeWhitt tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Stevens easily slips into full mount! DeWhitt is wriggling around trying to escape.

DeWhitt tries to hold on but Stevens pushes him away. Stevens trying to control but he's not successful this time. Stevens with a couple of short strikes. Stevens can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as DeWhitt is looking to escape. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Stevens lands with some strikes. Stevens prevents DeWhitt from getting the reversal.
That's three minutes gone in the round. DeWhitt is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. DeWhitt takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. DeWhitt is looking to get to half guard. Stevens pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Stevens content just to control the position here. DeWhitt is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Stevens pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stevens wants to control the pace but DeWhitt is squirming around nicely. Stevens is breathing heavily. DeWhitt wants to hold on but Stevens pushes him away. DeWhitt slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. DeWhitt trying to hold on to Stevens's head to control him but Stevens postures up.
Stevens stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows DeWhitt to get to his feet. DeWhitt doesn't succeed with the takedown and Stevens counters with a nice double leg into guard. Stevens throws a big right hand that misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

DeWhitt with a lazy takedown attempt and Stevens counters with a takedown into side control. DeWhitt is not content to let Stevens control the position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Stevens tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stevens wants to lay and pray for a moment but DeWhitt keeps working. DeWhitt gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. DeWhitt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. DeWhitt moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. DeWhitt tries to land a sweep but no joy. DeWhitt is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Stevens looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. DeWhitt is trying to control the position but Stevens postures up. DeWhitt looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stevens is one step ahead there. Stevens trying to control the position from guard on top but DeWhitt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. DeWhitt manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stevens manages to get himself to full guard.

DeWhitt is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. DeWhitt is pushing down on Stevens's leg trying to pass to half guard. Stevens is fighting to maintain full guard but DeWhitt has managed to sneak the leg through. Stevens is not content to let DeWhitt control the position. Stevens is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of DeWhitt's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take DeWhitt's back! Stevens is hanging on to DeWhitt's back as he tries to escape.
Stevens is looking to control DeWhitt but DeWhitt is wriggling around and keeping busy. Stevens is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Stevens gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Stevens gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Stevens apologises and we restart here on the feet.
DeWhitt misses with a takedown and Stevens counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Brad Stevens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Will DeWhitt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Stevens scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. DeWhitt tries to roll over but Stevens keeps him under control. Stevens takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Stevens is keen to just control but DeWhitt is a slippery customer. DeWhitt taking some punishment here, with Stevens in his half guard. DeWhitt is trying to get back to full guard. DeWhitt works his way to full guard. Good work. DeWhitt sneaks back into half guard. DeWhitt has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Stevens is working away from the top position though.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. DeWhitt tries for a takedown but Stevens circles away easily and Stevens counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Stevens. Brad Stevens is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stevens wants to control from the top but DeWhitt keeps moving. Brad Stevens overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Stevens stopping the sweep attempt from DeWhitt. DeWhitt has his foot on Stevens's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stevens works his way back into a safe position though. Will DeWhitt has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! There's a bit of a scramble here and now DeWhitt is on top in guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Stevens trying to keep a closed guard but DeWhitt is proving a slippery customer.

And that's the end of the fight! Brad Stevens showed his dominance in that final round. Well Stevens has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
