Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
32 - 15 - 1, fighting out of London, Stephen Griffiths! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Maul! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Colin Fotheringham and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Griffiths throws a leg kick but Maul sees it coming and moves out of range. Griffiths displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Maul throws out the jab. Maul looks to score with a jab to the body but Griffiths is just out of range. Griffiths tries to counter with a takedown but Maul is quick to defend against it. Maul steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Griffiths. Maul throws a counter combo. Maul throws the left hand but Griffiths avoids the punch easily. Griffiths throwing a counter right hand but Maul manages to avoid it. A big left from Maul misses. Griffiths with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

It looked like Griffiths was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Maul. Maul pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Maul ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Griffiths moves away. Griffiths throws a body shot but no joy. Griffiths shoots in and bounces Maul off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Griffiths sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Maul's guard. Maul is looking to improve his position.

Griffiths stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maul swivels though and keeps the full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Griffiths postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Maul is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap!
