PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Seth Sexton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Khaliev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sexton comes into the arena with I'm too sexy - Right Said Fred blaring out of the sound system. Khaliev is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by T-Wayne - Nasty Freestyle. On his way into the ring it seems that Seth Sexton has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Seth Sexton seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Seth Sexton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam Khaliev!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, David Schapiro and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sexton fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Khaliev, pushing him back against the ropes.

Khaliev pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sexton throws a head kick but Khaliev moves out of range.
The fighters circling - Khaliev throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sexton.
Khaliev drops his hands momentarily and Sexton takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Sexton changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Khaliev tries to avoid it but Sexton manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Khaliev to the ground. Khaliev escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Khaliev throws out a loose jab but Sexton uses good head movement to avoid it.
Sexton lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Sexton throws an overhand right that lands on Khaliev's shoulder, as Khaliev tries to avoid the shot.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Sexton lands a lovely overhand right.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sexton tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Sexton is trying to pull guard but Khaliev has him pressed against the ropes.

Sexton makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Khaliev breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Khaliev shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Sexton is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Khaliev pulls his head out easily.

Khaliev is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sexton doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Khaliev.

Khaliev seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sexton does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sexton wants to sweep here but Khaliev controlling him for the moment.
Khaliev wants to control from the top but Sexton keeps moving.

Khaliev is looking to take a break and control but Sexton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Sexton flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Khaliev is trying to control. Sexton wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Khaliev looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Sexton is trying to get back to full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Khaliev seems to be working for a kimura but Sexton defends the submission attempt.
Khaliev is controlling the pace.
Sexton wants to improve his position but Khaliev is controlling well.
Sexton is pressing down on Khaliev's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Sexton can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Khaliev controls the pace.
Khaliev wants to pass the guard but Sexton is keeping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Seth Sexton will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Khaliev throws a low kick but it's checked well by Sexton.

Sexton changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Sexton fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Khaliev manages to avoid it.
Sexton lands a nice hook to Khaliev's body. Khaliev takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Sexton dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Sexton is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Nice takedown defense from Khaliev. No joy for Sexton on that attempt.
Khaliev misses with a looping left.
Khaliev cracks Sexton with a right hand to the side of the head.
Seth Sexton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sexton lands with an uppercut that bounces Khaliev off the ropes and back into range.
Adam Khaliev is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sexton thuds a left hand into Khaliev's body.
Khaliev keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Khaliev tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Khaliev dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Sexton. That did some damage!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sexton is trying to maintain a safe position but Khaliev gets an underhook and turns Sexton into the ropes.

Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Sexton tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Khaliev smiles and moves away.
Sexton will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Sexton looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Sexton lands a nice hook to Khaliev's body. Khaliev takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Khaliev moves away from the strike by Sexton.
Sexton tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Sexton takes a swing at Khaliev's ribcage but misses.
Sexton ducks right into an uppercut from Khaliev.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sexton scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Khaliev doesn't seem bothered though.

Sexton is trying hard to land a takedown here. Khaliev sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

It looks like Seth Sexton has been cut.
Khaliev steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Sexton is out on his feet! Khaliev sets himself and nearly takes Sexton's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Adam Khaliev!
A relieved looking Adam Khaliev thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
