The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones moves away from the strike by O Doherty.
Jones avoids the head kick by O Doherty.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt - O Doherty sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

O Doherty buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Jones closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming O Doherty to the mat! O Doherty manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has O Doherty pinned against the cage. O Doherty gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

O Doherty throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Jones decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in O Doherty's guard.

Jones drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and O Doherty dives on top into guard.

Jones is looking for a triangle here but O Doherty uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Jones is looking for a sweep.

O Doherty takes a little break here. Jones wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Jones wants to control but O Doherty postures up.

Jones takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Frank Jones.
I think O Doherty has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
