Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zeke Donovan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexey Potapenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Donovan comes to the cage accompanied by Failure by Breaking Benjamin. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zeke Donovan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexey Potapenko! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Viktor Lagutenko and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Donovan rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Potapenko counters with a nice double leg into side control. Donovan won't be happy with that. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Potapenko wants to control but Donovan is keeping him busy. Potapenko with the ground and pound but Donovan regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Potapenko thows a huge punch but Donovan dodges it nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Potapenko throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Donovan to regain full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Potapenko missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Donovan manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Donovan swings for the body but Potapenko moves out of range.
Donovan tries to clinch up but Potapenko circles away and keeps his distance. Potapenko looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Potapenko shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Potapenko showed some decent athleticism there. Donovan blocking the ground and pound attempt from Potapenko. Potapenko working over Donovan with some ground and pound. Donovan looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Potapenko thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Donovan's head. Still in half guard, Potapenko seems content to control. Potapenko throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Donovan avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Potapenko. Potapenko controlling the action here. Potapenko thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Potapenko sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Donovan defending well though. Potapenko passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Donovan! Potapenko throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Donovan is squirming around, avoiding Potapenko's attempts to control the action. Donovan really wants to buck Potapenko off and get back to his feet. Potapenko looking to control and managing it successfully. Potapenko punishing his opponent with strikes. Potapenko has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Donovan is in a horrible position here. Potapenko smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

It looks like Zeke Donovan has been cut. Potapenko misses with a head shot. Oh Donovan is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Potapenko throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Donovan seems to have got his legs back now. Potapenko trying to control but he's not successful this time. Donovan takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Zeke Donovan's cut is getting worse. Potapenko lands a big shot to the head and Donovan winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Alexey Potapenko! Zeke Donovan was interviewed post fight and said 'I underestimated my opponent, and didn't try as hard I could have. He was the better man. Simple as that.'.
