Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tyler Harrison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rex Smith! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Winston Howard and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith tries to keep at a distance but Harrison has taken the fight into the clinch. Harrison is working for takedown but Smith is calmly controlling the position for now. Harrison gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Smith trying to control from the bottom.
Smith pushes Harrison off looking to stand but Harrison dives back in and keeps control.
Smith has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Harrison is working away from the top position though. Harrison works his way into side control. Harrison thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith is looking to reverse the position. Harrison scoring with punches and elbows. Smith gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith is wriggling around trying to escape.
Smith wants to control but Harrison is having none of it. Harrison lands a big shot there that rocks Smith but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Smith in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Harrison looking to control but Smith is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Harrison prevents Smith from getting the reversal. Smith is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Harrison jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Smith is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Smith and Harrison has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith is not content to let Harrison control the position. Harrison looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Smith avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Harrison. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Smith is looking to regain half guard here but Harrison keeps moving and retains side control. Harrison is looking to take a break and control but Smith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Harrison shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Harrison controlling the position easily from mount. Harrison is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Smith has managed to escape the submission attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Harrison fails to move to back control. Harrison can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Smith is looking to escape. Harrison looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Harrison is breathing heavily. Harrison avoids the attempt from Smith to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Harrison. Smith is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Harrison's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Smith pushes Harrison off but Harrison dives into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Smith tries to improve position but can't. Smith is trying to control Harrison's posture but Harrison avoids it. Harrison tries to advance to mount but Smith denies him.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Smith swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Smith darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Harrison changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Harrison manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Harrison closes the distance and clinches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith prevents a takedown attempt there.
Harrison is trying to drag Smith to the mat but Smith just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyler Harrison. That's going to take a lot out of him. Harrison wants a takedown.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Smith has had enough of the clinch but Harrison keeps him there for the moment. Smith wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Harrison has him pressed against the cage. Smith tries to break the clinch but Harrison is controlling the position. Harrison prevents Smith from breaking the clinch. Smith is trying to break free. Come on Smith - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Harrison keeps control of Smith as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Harrison tries for a takedown but Smith manages to get underhooks.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Harrison is trying to trip Smith. He has hold of a leg but Smith is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Harrison persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Smith is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Smith is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tyler Harrison dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Harrison drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Harrison trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Smith looking to hit a scissor sweep but Harrison is one step ahead there. Harrison drops back looking for a leg! Smith is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Smith manages to kick Harrison off! Harrison jumps back into Smith's guard. Smith is looking to stand up but Harrison isn't so interested in that idea. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Harrison wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving. Smith takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Smith wants to stand and escape but Harrison is having none of it. Smith pulls Harrison in close to prevent any damage.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Harrison looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Smith wants to stand up but Harrison is controlling him. Harrison content to stall in guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harrison wants to pass the guard but Smith is keeping the position. Harrison passes Smith's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Smith won't allow Harrison to pass to mount. Smith is trying to get back to full guard. Harrison trying to pass the guard but Smith defending well. Smith is not content to let Harrison control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Harrison moves into full mount! Smith won't be happy about that! Harrison trying to control but he's not successful this time. Harrison prevents Smith from getting the reversal. Smith wants to control but Harrison is having none of it. Harrison pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Harrison has hold of Smith's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Smith manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Harrison won't let Smith get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Tyler Harrison is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Harrison lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Harrison in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Harrison sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Rex Smith has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that's the end of the fight! Tyler Harrison showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Harrison, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
