The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

so Kazakov counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kazakov trying to control but Maxine is working from the bottom.
Kazakov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kazakov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maxine swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kazakov tries to free his leg and advance position but Maxine is retaining full guard.

Kazakov wants to control from the top but Maxine keeps moving.
Kazakov drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Maxine manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kazakov has Maxine in his guard.
Maxine gets to his feet - Kazakov follows without any prompting.
Kazakov takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Maxine tries to close the distance and clinch but Kazakov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kazakov shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kazakov showed some decent athleticism there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
