The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Winston Alpacca and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Higuchi misses with a right hand
and Dodson counters with a stiff right hand.
It looks like Rei Higuchi has been cut.
Dodson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Higuchi moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Higuchi showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Dodson .
Higuchi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dodson swivels and escapes.
Higuchi swings widly with a right hand
and Dodson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Higuchi has his takedown stuffed
and Dodson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Higuchi thinking.
Higuchi shoots and misses
and Dodson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rei Higuchi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Higuchi misses with a left hand
letting Dodson counter with a right hand.
Higuchi is rocked!
Higuchi is aggressively charging in as Dodson backs up avoiding any damage. Dodson tosses out a jab and Higuchi runs right into it face first! Higuchi is out cold! Dodson dropped down on all fours and is barking in Higuchi's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John Dodson !
A relieved looking John Dodson thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
