Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dook McStink! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Emanuel Ruiz! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruiz closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into McStink's guard. Ruiz sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed McStink's guard. McStink knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ruiz on the ground. Ruiz thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McStink's head. Ruiz is looking for a kimura but McStink is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Ruiz to get the leverage. Ruiz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Ruiz content to control rather than advance. Ruiz trying to pass the guard but McStink defending well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruiz sitting and controlling from the half guard. Ruiz thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruiz sitting and controlling from the half guard. Ruiz works his foot free and advances to mount. Ruiz should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Ruiz controlling from the full mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. McStink holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Ruiz tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Ruiz working for a guillotine from mount but McStink is in no mood to give up. Ruiz controlling from mount. McStink is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Ruiz is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But McStink has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from McStink! McStink has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. McStink looking to sit in guard and control but Ruiz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McStink looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ruiz is one step ahead there. Ruiz showing good wrestling skills to control the position. McStink will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Ruiz advances to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. McStink is looking to get back to full guard here but Ruiz has managed to pass to side control instead. Ruiz throwing strikes but missing, from side control. The strikes coming from Ruiz are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Ruiz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ruiz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Ruiz looking to punish the body of his opponent here but McStink is avoiding damage well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ruiz misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Ruiz sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but McStink is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Emanuel Ruiz dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
McStink fails to land with a series of punches.
Ruiz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. McStink was covering up waiting for the punch and Ruiz finishes the takedown easily into guard. McStink looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Emanuel Ruiz has got the better of the ground game so far. McStink can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ruiz controls the pace. Ruiz drops back looking for a leg! McStink is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and McStink manages to kick Ruiz off! Ruiz jumps back into McStink's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McStink being controlled here, momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ruiz gets to his feet. McStink looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! A head kick misses from Ruiz. Ruiz tries to clinch but McStink is having none of it. Ruiz tries to land a front kick but McStink steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Ruiz has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Ruiz looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Nice takedown defense from McStink. No joy for Ruiz on that attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruiz looks to land a combination but McStink avoids it well. Ruiz shoots in looking for a takedown but McStink manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ruiz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. McStink feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Ruizs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
It looks like Emanuel Ruiz has been cut. Ruiz shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Ruiz has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Ruiz fails with a takedown attempt. Dook McStink has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Emanuel Ruiz. Ruiz tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. McStink feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Ruiz sprawling to the canvas! Ruiz rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can McStink finish him?!
Ruiz is rocked!
That has opened up Emanuel Ruiz's cut even more. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ruiz is trying hard to land a takedown here. McStink sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Ruiz is still on wobbly legs! Can McStink finish him? McStink throws a leg kick which misses Ruiz's front leg but catches the back leg as Ruiz tries to avoid it. Ruiz takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Ruiz is breathing heavily. McStink lands a nice looking body shot.
Ruiz is aggressively charging in as McStink backs up avoiding any damage. McStink tosses out a jab and Ruiz runs right into it face first! Ruiz is out cold! McStink dropped down on all fours and is barking in Ruiz's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dook McStink!
