Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mateusz Biernat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hiram Cummins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Biernat's entrance music is Hustler. A fine choice. Mateusz Biernat has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mateusz Biernat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hiram Cummins!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksandr Martynov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Biernat closes the distance and clinches up with Cummins, looking for a takedown. Biernat pushes Cummins against the cage but Cummins circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
We've been hearing reports that Biernat has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Biernat drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Cummins dives on top into guard.

Biernat has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cummins can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Cummins working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Biernat has a closed guard, preventing Cummins from standing up.
Biernat lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Cummins is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Biernat swings around for an armbar but Cummins sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Biernat's guard.

Cummins is looking to stand up but Biernat won't let him.
Cummins is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

That was a close round but I would say that Mateusz Biernat will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Cummins fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Biernat, pushing him back against the cage.
Biernat is trying to drag Cummins to the mat but Cummins just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Cummins tightens his grip and picks Biernat up, before dumping him to the ground. Biernat manages to land in guard.

and Biernat connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Cummins lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Biernat shoots for a takedown but Cummins saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Hiram Cummins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cummins is pressed up against the cage. Biernat has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cummins down to the mat. Cummins avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Cummins cracks Biernat with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Cummins has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Biernat to stand back up!

It looks like Mateusz Biernat has been cut.

Cummins has Biernat up against the cage in a clinch.
Oh Biernat is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Cummins has hold of one of Biernat's legs. Biernat is fighting the takedown attempt but Cummins gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Cummins scores with a counter punch that sends Biernat to the canvas! Cummins smells blood - he's punishing Biernat with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Biernat has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
