Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rene Simard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Humberto Lima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rene Simard has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rene Simard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Humberto Lima!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lima looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Simard looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Lima working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Lima is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Lima tries to free his leg and advance position but Simard is retaining full guard.

Simard is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lima defends well.
Lima slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Simard looks to land a combination but Lima avoids it well.

Lima shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Simard is trying to defend but Lima finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Lima is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Simard has managed to free his arm - good work.

Simard is really struggling to control Lima but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Lima drops back, looking for a kneebar! Simard looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Simard looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Simard!

Humberto Lima showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Simard enables Lima to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Simard manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Lima stands up over Simard, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Lima is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Simard has escaped the position, nice work there.

Lima goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Simard has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Lima but great work by Simard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lima wants to control but Simard postures up.

Simard wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lima, who protects the arm well.

Simard tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Simard has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Lima sneaks back into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Simard is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Simard throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Simard prevents Lima from improving his position.
Lima is concentrating on defense, preventing Simard from advancing position.

Simard is trying to control the action in half guard but Lima is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lima moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Simard stopping the sweep attempt from Lima.
Simard pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lima is keeping the position for now.

Lima has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Simard can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lima is on top in guard.
