PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Drako Bravo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hanzo Hasashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bravo comes to the cage accompanied by Jiu Jitsu by Eddie Bravo. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Drako Bravo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hanzo Hasashi!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bravo dives in for a single leg takedown but Hasashi sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Hasashi let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Drako Bravo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bravo shoots and misses
and Hasashi counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Bravo definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Hasashi tests Bravo's chin there with a solid looking shot.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Hasashi has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Bravo avoids the body shot from Hasashi.
Hasashi lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Bravo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hasashi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bravo somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Drako Bravo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hasashi slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bravo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hasashi as he avoids it easily.

Bravo shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hasashi's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Hasashi is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bravo is controlling him.

Bravo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bravo prevents Hasashi from getting back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Hasashi counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hasashi.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Bravo tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Bravo is trying to pull guard but Hasashi turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Bravo looks for a takedown but Hasashi sprawls well.
Hasashi lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Bravo is rocked!
Hasashi throws a body punch but Bravo moves out of range.
Oh Bravo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hasashi has closed the distance and engaged Bravo in a clinch.

Hasashi working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The referee is keeping an eye on Hasashi - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Bravo tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hasashi smiles and moves away.

Hasashi looks to score with a jab to the body but Bravo is just out of range.
Bravo goes for a double leg but Hasashi avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hasashi continues to drive forward.
Hasashi looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Bravo misses with a takedown attempt - Hasashi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Hasashi instigates a clinch.
Bravo jumps guard but Hasashi stands there with Bravo around his waist. Bravo gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

A nice left hand lands by Hasashi.
Hasashi stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Hasashi has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Hasashi's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hanzo Hasashi dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Hasashi is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Bravo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hasashi circles away.

Hasashi has Bravo up against the cage in a clinch.
Still in the clinch, Hasashi scores with a nice short uppercut.
Bravo has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Hasashi after a bit of a struggle.
Come on Hasashi - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Hasashi doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Bravo fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Bravo moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Hasashi stuffs the takedown.
Bravo sets himself, and Hasashi steps forward looking for the clinch! Bravo avoids it this time.
Bravo shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hasashi counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Bravo takes a shot to the body in his stride.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hasashi scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Bravo doesn't seem bothered though.

Hasashi drops his shoulder and cracks Bravo with a huge uppercut! Bravo goes down! Can Hasashi finish him?

Bravo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hasashi is aware though and is defending well.
Hasashi lands a couple of elbows.
Hasashi scoring with punches to the head and body.
Hasashi content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Hasashi loads up on a big left hand. Bravo felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Hasashi looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Bravo can't hide his disappointment, as Hasashi celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hanzo Hasashi!
Hanzo Hasashi took some time post fight to say the following; 'That's what should have happened in the first fight; I should have won the belt; but now i'm gonna go into isolation'.
